Wisdom From Your Ancestors: Tarot Pick a Card
Hello, my soul friends! Today I have a reading from your ancestors. They have something important to say to you.
All you have to do is pick the pile that sticks out to you the most. Which flower inspires your intuition? That’s your pile and that’s your tarot reading.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Here I’m using the Angels and Ancestors Oracle deck (this is an affiliate link that supports me if you make a purchase). Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now it’s time to listen to some wisdom from your ancestors.
Pile 1: Red Rose
Embrace All Your Abilities
Your ancestors recognize that you’re going through an acute period of your life right now. Things may be challenging, either in the exciting sense or the dreadful one. However, your ancestors believe you can use this opportunity for good.
The first card is Shapeshifter with the wisdom message of “Transform and Unveil Your Gifts.” It appears as if you have a special talent and it may have been inherited.
An inherited gift can be spiritual in origin, but it can also be related to your physical body or through how you’re raised. Either way, you have untapped potential that you may be ignoring because it was always with you.
Unfortunately, our gifts may not always naturally align with our desires. Someone may be born with a gift for singing, but wish to be a doctor instead. Yet even though they find it isn’t useful in their job or life purpose, it brings them an immense joy to sing at home to unwind.
Your ancestors don’t want you to assume that all your gifts have to be used for a greater purpose. Just like in the first card, you’re a person with many different gifts and they can be used in different circumstances. And perhaps in this case, your gift may help you cope with challenges without directly confronting them (such as through self-care).
A Time to Grow
The next card is Wise One with the wisdom message of “Grow Within Your Current Situation.” There’s something about your current challenge which can help you grow to be a better person.
That doesn’t mean you need to dwell in misery, but before you escape or solve the challenge, consider what it’s teaching you so you can fully comprehend and take on that lesson.
Someone going through a painful breakup may discover who and what they should be looking for in a relationship. So instead of bouncing from one relationship to the other, they grow within their current situation and internalize those lessons so traumas aren’t repeated.
And if this is a happy challenge you’re going through – the advice is still the same! There’s a lot of potential going on and you can amplify that experience in a powerful way.
For example, someone preparing for a big speech that’ll change their life shouldn’t improvise. Instead, they should prepare and learn as much as they can to make the most of the experience.
Live life to the fullest right now no matter where you are in your current situation. Don’t be passive, be active.
You Have a Mission
With the last card, I get a small inkling of magick. This card, White Witch, has the wisdom message of “Be the light.” Part of your lineage is the continuation of a benevolent soul mission.
Your ancestors are both the ancestors of this body but also the ancestors of any past lives you had. Because of this, they’re well associated with your higher purpose or even a higher purpose your family has.
A common example of this would be who inherits a high social position. It’s not enough to enjoy the privileges of this station, but also act on the responsibilities.
Ask yourself what it seems like you’re responsible for in this life and make sure to incorporate that into your life purpose somehow. But you get to choose how it’ll be incorporated and don’t have to copy what your ancestors did exactly.
For example, someone who feels an ancestral call to honor their homeland, even if they live far away from it, would do well to learn about that place and bring traditions or create new ones to live out that responsibility.

Pile 2: Purple Rose
Prepare Yourself
Your ancestors want you to perceive something in your life that’s important. Perhaps they don’t know what it is and I could never know what it is either. The point is that only you can truly comprehend the perception you’re supposed to make.
The first card, Druid, has the wisdom message of “Hold the space.” Because you need to perceive something important, you’re going to want to avoid any big changes in your life until you do that. If circumstances change, your ability to perceive what you’re supposed to is then lost.
However, don’t worry so much about this. Perception takes effort, but it rarely takes a significant amount of time if you put in the intention. Some of you may be able to leave this reading, meditate, and instantly know what you’re supposed to perceive, while others may need a few days to a few weeks.
Either way, hold your current space and make yourself as comfortable as possible so you have the right environment to receive instead of fighting what comes your way. I do sense a little bit of resistance in you.
You’re Living in Confusion
The next card, Air Guardian, indicates a change of perspective with the wisdom message “Shift your perception.” It’s easy to get wrapped up in an ideology or way of living that eventually stops working. However, when things get stale, entropy starts to arise.
One thing I’ve noticed is that people’s lives get out of control when they have contradictory ideas warping their worldview. Some people can eventually reconcile this contradiction and accept things as is, but others can’t and need to be decisive in their thoughts.
I see that happening with you right now. You have contradictory beliefs and are falling under cognitive dissonance. You need to work through these contradictory beliefs so your life can be in alignment again. It will increase your happiness to do so.
The root cause of cognitive dissonance is usually because of a clash between tradition and novelty. Sometimes tradition is the better option and sometimes novelty is the better option. Either way, there are times when the two can’t co-exist and that’s happening in your life.
It’ll help you to journal or meditate on sources of conflict or confusion in your life. Then, figure out which “side” you need to take for your mind to be in more harmony.
I’m not a vegan, but this is a great example of what I mean: many animal rights activists struggle with the idea of eating meat. They eventually decide to become vegans instead of having contradictory ideas. Others end up only using locally sourced animal products from compassionate farmers instead of factory businesses.
Your cognitive dissonance is value-based so that’s where you need to look to figure out where your mind is in confusion.
Keep It Simple
The final card is Summer with the wisdom message of “Bask in joy and light.” This card seemed more ethereal and moody to me, and I think that’s because your ancestors want you to live simpler like they did.
Modern life is complex and complexity can stress us out. Minimizing the choices you need to make or the information you need to process can increase your joy.
Let’s use an example: you walk into the store and see thirty different fruits. You have no idea what to pick and try to find the “best” one and it takes you thirty minutes of struggle and a lot of Google research. But your ancestors didn’t have that selection and ate what was in season.
You’re suffering from the paradox of choice. Too many options are stressing you out. Other than the issue of cognitive dissonance from before, identify one area of your life where you feel overwhelmed by choice and try to simplify. You’ll be happier you did.

Pile 3: Sunflower
Your Ancestors Know Things
I get a strong sense from your spread and the first card that you’ll benefit from a direct connection to your ancestors. The first card, Medicine Mother, has the wisdom message of “Honour your inner knowing.”
Not everyone finds communicating with their ancestors worthwhile, but I think you should strongly consider it even if it’s just a temporary practice like a guided meditation.
If you’re already doing it, try to channel an ancestor’s spirit or the spirit of their homeland. That works best if you’re physically present in the location or you have something from that place.
Pursuing this will let you manifest the wisdom from this card which is an innate knowing. You’ve probably heard the saying “learn from other’s mistakes” and I think that’s valid here. What your ancestors lived through can be lessons that are passed onto you spiritually.
Your ancestors may not know how to program an Excel spreadsheet, but all the big things in life, like falling in love, dealing with human relationships, and finding purpose, are something they have dealt with and can provide insight on through a spiritual relationship with you.
Your Inner Power Unleashed
Your next card is very fiery and passionate: the Magick Guardian has the wisdom message of “Unlock the magick from within.” Everyone has special gifts and some of these gifts are inherited.
Because of this similar energy, your ancestors have a lot of ideas on how you can unlock your inner magick and use it to your advantage. They’re also emotionally invested in you from a human perspective. Spirit guides are great, but not all of them are human, so an ancestor perspective is particularly important and valid.
As to the magick within you itself, it may manifest in several different ways but I do sense that it is untapped. Perhaps you haven’t fully realized this power or are even aware of it.
But be open to the idea that this magick may not seem magick at first. As an Appalachian myself with Scots-Irish ancestors that fought in the Coal Wars, you could say my inner magick is being ungovernable. This trait makes me pretty defiant in the face of bullies and has helped me avoid oppressive situations in my personal life.
This untapped potential even if it seems mundane or not spiritual will have positive effects on your life if you let it manifest. Your ancestors can help with that.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
The final card is Mirror Guardian with the wisdom message of “Take time to reflect.” A lot of what your ancestors want you to do in your communication with them is to introspect and emotionally work through what you learn so you can internalize the lessons.
As your ancestors, there’s a lot about them that resonates and even mirrors you. This isn’t merely a physical thing (for those who are multicultural, you may not “look” like your ancestors, but they’re still a soul mirror). So much of who you are is a butterfly effect of what your ancestors did.
Considering those actions and how they communicate with you will provide the insight you can’t get from other spiritual practices. When it comes to your ancestors, the connection is personal.

Thank you Emmarie, as always your readings give me so much guidance when I need it most. I am truly grateful that you provide these readings and that you are so gifted and often, like todays, seems like they could written just for me (sunflower). Although I know so many people must also feel the same!
I’m so happy that it resonated for you, Kathleen! I really like creating them. 🙂
