The Self-Care You Need: Tarot Pick a Card
Hello, my soul friends! Today I have a reading on how you can use self-care to improve your life. This is all about comfort and joy.
All you have to do is pick the pile that sticks out to you the most. Which animal inspires your intuition? That’s your pile and that’s your tarot reading.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Here I’m using the Sacred Self-Care Oracle deck (this is an affiliate link that supports me if you make a purchase). Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now it’s time to indulge yourself. You deserve it!
Pile 1: Caterpillar
Study Your Destiny
I see a lot of relaxation and contemplation in your spread. The first card is Look to the Stars. Everyone has a destiny, and while you also have free will, it can be helpful to know what the universe has planned for you.
That’s because it can be a relief to have a guide to use sometimes. Astrology provides insight into why you’re the way you are and also what is likely to happen in your life.
I once computed all the traits in my astrological natal chart into ChatGPT and asked what would be the best career for me. Want to guess what it was? Tarot reader! It’s nice to know I’m on track.
Getting a professional astrological reading can be really useful, but if you’re on a budget or you don’t want to wait for an opening, then you can use online horoscopes to forecast your near future or an online generator to create your natal chart. Cafe Astrology is one of the most popular generators for those new to natal charts.
Slow Things Down
The next card in your spread is Be Still. You’ve probably been moving around a lot lately, either physically or mentally. Now you need a break. Maybe hold off on exercise for a few days.
Being still means giving time for your body to recuperate and your mind to wander. There are a lot of ways to do this, but one way I recommend is to lay back in bed and daydream. Some of you may find it helpful to listen to music with or without lyrics.
Others may find it productive to go on a dopamine detox. This is where you stay away from the internet and other intense, draining activities. A single day can reset you, but many people do a whole weekend or longer.
If you have the opportunity, consider a leisurely vacation such as a nearby campground or cabin. If you live in the city, you can take a trip to the park, museum, or another low-stress activity.
Enjoy Yourself
The last card is Connect with Your Womb. Not everyone who picked this pile has a uterus, but what this card is saying is for you to connect with your inner nurturing and personal cycle. Your needs are different from the needs of the world and it’s time you recognize that.
Think of a warm, motherly energy here and apply that energy to how you treat yourself. You should love yourself like a person you’re responsible for caring about. Right now, part of that care is making you comfortable and relaxed.
Consider nesting, which is making your home comfortable, and having an easy day where you eat a favorite meal and do a favorite activity. If you have loved ones or pets, spend quality time with them even if it’s just lying on the couch watching a movie.

Look to Your Lineage
I didn’t mean to pull four cards, but when I was getting ready to photograph your spread, one poked out from under another card. So the fourth card really wanted to be here.
This spread is all about mysticism and your connection to the divine, especially in a physical way.
Your first card is Connect with Your Ancestors. When it comes to spirituality, it can seem really impersonal sometimes. The universe, gods, spiritual forces… why would they care individually about you over anyone else? But ancestor worship is a common practice across many cultures because it helps the individual relate to the universe through the family that came before them.
Of course, you don’t need to literally worship your ancestors to do it. Reverance and communication can go a long way. Your ancestry can be biological, cultural, geographic, or even spiritual. The point is to reach out through meditation, offerings, or ritual practices to make a meaningful connection to spirits who have a personal vested interest in your well-being.
Be a Lunatic
The next card, Sync with the Moon, is asking you to observe lunar phases. Whenever the moon enters a new astrological sign or phase it has a different effect on the world and yourself. The New Moon is a good time to start something while the Full Moon is when projects culminate into something powerful.
In general, people either observe the Full Moon, the New and Full Moon, or the major phases that occur about once a week. Some people take note of what astrological sign the moon is in at that time. Astro-Seek has one of the better calendars I’ve seen that I frequently refer to.
Some people don’t get that detailed, however. It’s okay to just take time during one of these lunar phases to do a self-care routine and spiritual activity that you value.
Make Life Tangible
The third card in your spread is Use Your Hands. I’m generally lost in my head most of the time, but recently I’ve gone analog with a lot of things. Instead of planning on the computer, I now plan on paper and it’s made the future seem more real to me.
I think you’ll find one of the best ways to do self-care for you is to go analog or do something physical. Perhaps you could read a book or draw a picture.
There’s something special and therapeutic about engaging your mind and body in the same task. It helps you to focus in a way we often don’t in this digital world.
Potential Is All Around You
Your final card is Energy Work. This is about manipulating the energy in your body or around you to create a positive effect. Reiki, acupuncture, crystals, breathwork, meditation, sound healing, and cleansing are all possible types of energy work you can try.
Beginners or those on a limited budget might enjoy breathwork, meditation, and sound healing as those practices all have free videos and podcasts on the internet to help guide you through a practice.
It may take some time to find out what you like best, but I’m guessing it’s going to be something you go back to time and time again when you want spiritual self-care.

Pile 3: Frog
Find Happiness in What You Have
You have a really fun spread. Each of the self-care activities the universe would like you to try is traditional and leisurely.
The first card is Write a Gratitude List. This is common therapeutic advice because it works. It’s really difficult to be thankful for what you get in the future if you aren’t grateful for what you have now. You need to reorient yourself in the present and a gratitude list can help with that.
I’ll use an example: someone may want a cat. When they get a cat, they may want the cat’s behavior to be more like the cats on social media. But it’s just an ordinary, cuddly cat and not a social media superstar.
Because it’s not, the person may be needlessly disappointed. Their on track to never be satisfied with what they have and always want perfection. But perfection is just comparing oneself to another. It never ends because there’s always someone else to compare yourself to.
Making a gratitude list is a good way to identify what you already enjoy about your life so you don’t miss it. It’s also easy. All you need is something to write with and a few minutes of your time.
Imagine Your Future
Your next card is Abundance Planning. This is about using the Law of Attraction either through scripting or vision boards to imagine an abundant future. The goal is not to see it as a possibility, but an eventuality. It’s your direction in life and where you’re meant to be.
Perhaps an artist envisions their abundant future as having beautiful art in their home that makes them happy. They could create a vision board or write a script detailing what this would be. With this plan made concrete, the artist now knows what a manifestation of that would look like. They won’t wander aimlessly anymore.
This alters behavior and opens a person up to opportunities they would otherwise reject. There’s also the mystical aspect of attraction, but what you’ll mostly feel when you use it is a psychological shift.
Envision an abundant future for yourself and make it a concrete vision board or written script so that you bring it out of your mind and into the physical world.
Have Something Delicious
The third card is Sweet Treat. Indulge your appetite with something special and extravagant. It should be outside your normal diet. So if you eat fruit or have a daily dark chocolate square, think bigger.
It’s okay to spend a bit more money and time here. People don’t have birthday cakes every day, but when they do, they either get a specialty cake or additional toppings like sprinkles and candles.
Sweet treats like these mark special occasions or even just an acknowledgment that you are special. Because you are. So take some time to plan or browse whatever is at a nearby store or online shop and treat yourself. You’ll feel rewarded by the universe if you do so.
And if you don’t like sweets, indulge in your favorite snack or meal instead that you reserve for exceptional occasions.
