Message From Your Dark Side: Tarot Pick a Card
We should always endeavor to live in the light. However, we sometimes neglect our personal needs and sacrifice ourselves for others in ways we shouldn’t.
Today we’re going to find out from the universe what “dark” part of yourself you should embrace. This message is meant to empower you where you have previously abandoned your independence in favor of social expectations. It may not be popular with others, but it is necessary for your wellbeing.
All you have to do is select one of the piles above that sticks out to you the most. That’s your message from the universe.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Here I’m using the Golden Art Nouveau Tarot and the Moonology oracle decks. Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now let’s discover what you need to know from your dark side.
Pile 1: Green Skull
You’re In Danger of Not Giving it Your All
Your central card is the First Quarter Moon with the wisdom message of “Your commitment is being tested. I sense that you’ve started something new in your life recently and you’re wondering if it’s the right pick.
No doubt what you started was based on social expectations and you aren’t sure if it was something you wanted yourself after all. This can be a frustrating revelation because what you want and what society wants don’t always match.
That said, your spread isn’t an adamant confirmation of a mismatch. Rather, you’re being asked to look at your life critically to determine if you’re acting in a way that you’ll regret later.
Regret is a funny thing. We often think that regrets are mistakes, but sometimes, regrets can also be a nostalgic perspective. Perhaps you would be happy with this social expectation and you’re confused as to why.
What You Truly Want is Unknown
But what is this expectation? Your next card is the Ten of Cups. This card suggests domestic bliss of some variety. You may be feeling pressured to settle down. Perhaps get married, have children, or buy a house.
If you’re a rebel, this expectation may upset you, yet you’re always feeling a weird draw to that lifestyle. I think what you’re problem is that you don’t understand where your desire for that lifestyle begins and where social expectations end.
You may want to get married, but not have children. Or you want to buy a house, but in a place far from where you grew up.
There’s something about this “domestic bliss” that does go against the grain but not in such a way as to alienate you from the ideal entirely. That’s why you don’t know what you want and what you’re feeling pressured to adopt.
You Write Your Life Story
Your last card is the Nine of Swords. This card symbolizes anxiety and regret. You’re worried that whatever decision you’ll make, you’ll regret it later. This may be true: if you delay having children, it may soon become unlikely you can have them when you get older.
But not all decisions in these areas have a narrow timeframe from which to decide. You could, for example, adopt an older child or mentor children in the community.
Whatever you decide to do, focus on what makes sense for you now. You can always leave the door open to make a quick pivot later. However, for decisions that are more immediate deadlines, consider brainstorming alternative options if you decide to change your mind in the far future.
It’s okay to live alternatively and it’s okay to live traditionally. You also need to realize that life isn’t about having and doing all the things, but rather what resonates with you. That means some (but not all) milestones may not be present in your life story.

Pile 2: Purple Skull
Bending the Rules
Your central card is Mutable Moon with the wisdom message of “Nothing is yet set in stone.” I sense that you want a more static plan than is feasible. Like the waters on the card, your life probably seems rather turbulent right now or you want to prevent that from happening.
But what I sense here is that you don’t know everything that’s ahead of you. The danger of creating a plan and sticking to it is that your plan may not match the needs of reality down the road.
Perhaps you’ve been pressured into doing “the right thing” in some area so you’re modeling your plan like that. But like any ideology, the reality is never what’s anticipated.
You’re putting too much hope in a future that may not even exist. Just like you have free will, so does everyone else around you. And people are complex. There is an element of chaos in life and yours is more chaotic than most when it comes to planning for the future.
That said, there’s a lot of flexibility too. You may not think flexibility is something you’re allowed, but your dark side wants you to know that you don’t have to act a certain way. You can bend the rules.
You Rule Yourself
The next card is the King of Swords. Here I read this card as meaning you are in full control of your decisions. No matter how chaotic your environment is, your best outcomes will always be when you take the wheel.
That doesn’t mean you can’t consider the opinions of others or your spiritual guides. A king always has a council, after all. But this suit, swords, is also known as the suit of the mind and decision-making. At the end of the day, you need to make the intellectual choice in whatever you do.
That means you need to believe it’s the right path logically. You can’t just emotionally agree with it for the sake of appeasing someone else.
Considering the chaos of your life, this isn’t an easy accomplishment to achieve. Perhaps this is why you’re dark side and the universe wants you to not create plans too far in advance. Until you have enough information to make a decision, you aren’t deciding with full awareness of the situation.
And another aspect to consider: this card is not one of emotional decision-making. Sometimes, you need to make a harsh and blunt decision even if it hurts someone else’s feelings.
You’re Kind of the Bad Guy
Your last card is the Seven of Swords. You need to think a bit like a thief right now. That means acting strategically and even unethically to achieve your ends. I don’t encourage or endorse breaking laws, but if you have to bend or break social rules to achieve your ends, your dark side is saying that’s what’s going to make you happy.
There are times when we are pressured and restricted in ways that are wrong. I sense that’s happening to you right now. While two wrongs don’t make a right, the only way you may be able to escape some situations is the underhanded way.
That may mean you’ll burn some bridges. So if you decide to pursue that path, be aware that with every gain may come a loss. Make sure it’s personally worth it.

Pile 3: Red Skull
You’re On the Defensive
I see a lot of heartbreak and emotional upset in your spread. The good news is that your central card, Full Moon in Cancer, does suggest that this “personal issue reaches resolution.”
Cancer as a zodiac sign is represented by the crab and rules over the house of domestic issues. Like the crab, you may have been defensive lately and feeling like you’re under attack. Your safety may have seemed uncertain.
But this card is the Full Moon, and that tells me you’re coming out of hiding and you’re on the offensive.
Crabs are known for walking sideways and I sense that’s what you need to do here. Attacking your heartbreak head-on, whether it be one of relationships or life purpose, isn’t helpful for you. Instead, you need to think strategically to avoid continued pain.
Don’t forget this is a water sign too. People often think of Cancers as focused on social issues and the home, and while that can be true, spiritual and creative elements are at play as well. Feel free to use those areas to support yourself. It’s more natural than you think.
I believe those elements provide the necessary intrapersonal balance to help you reflect and process emotions.
Redirect Your Energy
The next card in your spread is the Knight of Cups, Reversed. I think some of your ideals were discovered to be illusions. Perhaps you realized someone wasn’t who you thought they were or your dream is no longer possible.
Your dark side has been trying to break through your disillusionment and help you see reality. I think, to some degree, you may be very uncomfortable with this aspect of yourself. You may be feeling a little depressed or emotionally on edge.
However, I think you should use your dark side to channel your emotions into something more productive. If your ideal was a person that was shattered, try helping others look for the same red flags you may have missed. If it’s a dream that’s no longer possible, perhaps you could begin exploring other options.
Overall, I think you should tap into your spirituality through shadow work or pursue creative hobbies. This will help to channel your dark thoughts instead of imprisoning them inside of you. It will also prevent you from lashing out against those who you still care about who are in your life.
You and Your Dark Side Aren’t Working Together
Your third and last card is the Queen of Cups, Reversed. What your dark side needs you to know is that you may have given too much of yourself to other people or dreams and now you’re burnt out. When that happens, your positive emotional energy can become negative and parasitic.
Right now, your relationship with your dark side is not a healthy one. Instead of helping you, it’s hurting you, and you’re manifesting qualities that corrupt your heart.
However, you’re coming out of your shell in general at this time and your experience will be briefer than you think. In the future, find ways to relate to your dark side in more productive ways. It should help you when no one else can, but it shouldn’t be so antisocial that you break away from social groups entirely.
Your dark side isn’t helping you to see new ideals right now. But it can’t in the future. Until you reach a better internal equilibrium, you need to release that negative energy from your life.
