Your Spiritual Awakening: Tarot Pick a Card
If you’re a spiritual person, then you either want to have a spiritual awakening or continue to evolve within your current awakening. This tarot pick a card is a direct message from the universe to help you do that.
All you have to do is look at the piles of cards above. Which candle sticks out to you the most? That’s your tarot reading pile!
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Today I’m using the Light Seer’s Tarot and the Work Your Light Oracle deck (these are affiliate links that support me if you make a purchase). Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now it’s time to spiritually awaken. Are you excited? I am!
Pile 1: Gold Candle
You Need Spiritual Freedom
Your first card is Unbound with the wisdom message of “Releasing soul patterns, contracts, and past lives.” Your current spiritual goal is to let go of what no longer serves you.
The reason this is necessary for you is that you’re experiencing pain. I love this card, even though it’s absolutely horrifying in a deck of light and beauty, because you’re meant to look at the card and see what you’re being freed from.
Right now, you don’t even see all the ways your life is binding you or that other people are trying to keep you trapped. While I think this could be a spiritual energy at work, your third card, the Knight of Cups, Reversed, indicates that ideals are your kryptonite.
Your destiny may have been so warped by your environment that it no longer serves you. For some of you, your pursuit of destiny may be suffering an obstacle. Either way, the primary obstruction is a false ideal. That’s not to say ideals are always bad, but that your current ideals are not a fit for what you need right now.
Looking Beyond
I really love the Knight of Cups, Reversed in this deck because it’s so clear in its romantic notions. But here, I sense those romantic notions are deluding you. This can mean a relationship, but it can also be a personal dream, hope, or lifestyle that’s to blame.
The reason you need your spiritual awakening to unbound you is that you’re yoking yourself to an ideal that seems sweet on the surface, but it’s actually harmful. The knight here has stepped away from his trusty stead (the motorcycle), slowing things down.
You aren’t making the progress in life you should be making.
By pursuing your spiritual awakening, you will look beyond your current life and see into the spiritual world. This will give you a perspective you didn’t have before because your idealism will no longer be coupled to the bindings of your current life. And when that happens, things are going to happen quickly.
Live In the Present
People often read The Tower card in a negative light which is much deserved. However, in your spread, the forceful spiritual message from the heavens which destroys the foundation of the life you built is exactly what’s needed.
The squirrel here has stored up acorns for the winter, but lightning has struck the tree and has ruined all of his carefully laid plans. But did you know that squirrels hide so many acorns they sometimes forget where they are?
I read this card here to mean that you’re investing in a future that will never manifest. Some of what you’re doing now is going to go unrealized and you’re missing out on some wonderful opportunities.
One thing your spiritual awakening is going to do is put you more into the present rather than into an ideal you have. Seriously consider meditative practices, gratitude, and other now-focused activities.

Pile 2: Blue Candle
You Are Amazing
Your first card is Star Mother with the wisdom message of “How can you mother yourself?” When I see this card, it’s usually a sign that a person is having a difficult time and needs to focus more on their needs.
That may be the case for you, or it could simply be that you’ll benefit from treating yourself like someone who deserves to be loved because that helps bring out the best side of yourself.
When it comes to your spiritual awakening, I think you need to separate the idea of self-care from the message of this card. Yes, that’s a good traditional meaning here, but instead think of the mother who encourages her child to dream and aspire to be anything they want to be in life. Then she encourages that child to pursue it even if it’s unrealistic.
The reason why that dream orientation is important for you is that you have a lot of untapped potential. Your spiritual awakening will help you to see the potential the universe already sees within you.
Your Inner Knowing
I like your next two cards because it’s a harmony between the head and the heart. The Queen of Swords is this profound inner knowing with a feminine wisdom attached to it. Here I see it as representing your own wisdom, but also the wisdom of the Star Mother – you need to be guided by your own idea of rationality.
Understand that this isn’t society’s idea of rationality. A mother knows her child better than a teacher or a random person in the community. Yes, a teacher or a community leader may “know” what’s best for the child, but the mother knows the child as an individual in a complex way.
If you look at your own inner wisdom, you’ll be able to parse the messages of the world with your own individual understanding of how it applies. What works for someone else may not work for you, but only you know that (and perhaps someone close to you like your mother).
Here, your spiritual awakening will help elevate yourself above those influential messages from others to see your life from that Star Mother perspective. I also think you’ll pull wisdom from ancestors and other spirit guides to help you on this.
The Dreams of a Child
The last card here, Ace of Wands, is a rather fun and creative card. It represents you and your passionate potential. Your spiritual awakening serves as an encouragement to pursue your dreams, even ones you’ve made no progress on in the past, with the enthusiasm of a child.
But I really love how the fire is on the forehead of the woman as it pairs so beautifully with the previous card. When you pursue your passion, it’s not just going to feel emotionally right, but rationally right.
Your spiritual awakening serves to harmonize your head and your heart in a way you never dreamed possible before. But do dream – your potential hasn’t been fully explored yet. The universe wants you to wake up to that.

Pile 3: Green Candle
The Universe is Endless
When I see Yes here with the wisdom message of “Just say yes” I’m instantly drawn to spiritual concepts like the Law of Attraction. Many people who have had spiritual awakenings in the modern world are drawn to these practices because of the mental shift it creates.
If you look around you in the world, all we see is no. We’re told that we can’t do things, that we’re unable to change the world, and that we must suffer endlessly with only consumerism to fill the gaps.
However, your spiritual awakening is going to help you shift from an external locus of control to an internal locus of control. That means you’re going to realize your true power and how you can manifest abundance in your life.
The reason why these “spiritual but not religious” people seem so successful right now is because of this internal locus of control. Trusting and believing in the universe creates a shift in perspective away from scarcity to one of abundance. It’s one of my favorite paradoxes. Interestingly, entrepreneurs also believe the same thing!
You Know Something Is Wrong
I see the next two cards as realizations of how you’ve been negatively affected by the modern world and why you need your spiritual awakening. The second card is the Nine of Swords, Reversed. This is a card about overcoming anxiety.
I don’t think you realize how sick culture is making you feel. It’s driving you crazy and affecting your happiness profoundly.
However, I do think you’re starting to come out of that already. In the traditional tarot deck, this features a woman sitting up in bed as if waking from a nightmare. Here, I interpret your card to mean you’re aware that you’ve been living a nightmare and are trying to spiritually awake in a different way. However, you’re still vulnerable to the world.
You’re struggling a bit, but your awareness of the need to have spiritual meaning is the first step to undoing the pain and suffering you’ve been pushed to accept as normal.
Change Must Occur
While I do think you’re already somewhat aware of the need to spiritually awake, your third card, the Eight of Swords, does indicate you’re not yet able to break through this cultural oppression.
See how the woman is looking into the mirror, witnessing how she’s imprisoned? But she doesn’t look away and doesn’t step away from the mirror. Instead, she sits there, passively imprisoned by the mere image of her suffering.
You’re afraid to change your life. There might be some good reasons for this, but overall, you’re stuck and unable to progress in your spiritual awakening because you refuse to accept a greater revelation.
To get past this, you need to get outside of yourself. There are a few practices you can try, but focusing on guided meditations, dream journaling, and lucid dreaming is good. This will help you separate from your current circumstances.
Once you’ve done that, look into things like the Law of Attraction and create vision boards for how you want your life to be instead. Then, accept the changes the universe sends your way.
