Your Secret Angel — Tarot Pick a Card

I sense that there’s a special and holy spirit looking out for you. This angel is working secretly and isn’t too big on recognition, but knowing what they’re doing and why will help comfort you and guide you to make the most of their assistance.

Now it’s time to see who your secret angel is and how they’re helping you.

Pile 1: Globe

Commune With the Earth

The angel in your spread is so secret it has decided not to share its name with me. That could mean it’s a passing angel, your guardian angel doing something slightly different than normal, or an angel assigned to you that hasn’t decided to reveal itself yet. I’m going to respect their secrecy and focus solely on how they’re helping you.

The first card, Earth and Ground, indicates your secret angel wants you to reconnect with the third dimension… but in a spiritual way.

You may have felt yourself drawn to nature or to do things in a mindful or minimalistic way. Consider adopting formal grounding practices like going outside and placing your bare feet on the earth or ground. If you’re like me and this gives you the ick, try the following:

• Visualize your energy pooling in your feet (or your butt or back if you’re sitting or lying down) and then it transferring to the ground below you like roots. You’re then spiritually tethered to the world. This is what I do.
• Lay down under a weighted blanket.
• Meditating with crystals or stones. I also do this frequently.
• Watching a virtual walking tour of a natural scene and visualizing yourself there. You can also walk in place or walk on a treadmill. This is a great way to have a physically active meditation if you’re normally sedentary. I like it for that reason for the average person.

Don’t Ignore This Dimension

The why for this practice is important. The second card, Eight of Pentacles, is all about honing your skills. This is an indication that grounding is about reconnecting with your concerns in the third dimension.

It’s easy if you’re interested in spirituality to have a gnostic focus. This means being so focused on the spiritual realm that you ignore the physical realm. Some people even see the physical realm as evil and disconnect from their daily lives.

Even if you have a gnostic philosophy, your angel wants you to know that you need to reconnect with the Earth while you’re alive and improve your material conditions. It’ll give you more peace of mind in this life that you’re currently living. That’s how they want to help and protect you.

Connect With Others

Your final card is the Two of Fire and this deck focuses more on moving forward with relationships. You aren’t the only person in the third dimension. Every person you meet and every living thing, sometimes even material objects, have an essence of spirit that you can interact with.

This is part of the reason why your secret angel wants you to commune with the Earth through grounding practices. You’ll encounter and experience the spiritual essence of the world around you.

But you can also sit in the presence of other people and animals and feel that same energy too. That means even ordinary third dimensional living can be a spiritual encounter of souls. And that can really make life worth living when you see this world as a multidimensional experience.

So perhaps the reason why your secret angel is so subtle is that they’re nudging you to be more physically present instead of focused on spiritual beings. Trust their intuition here.

Pile 2: Bottles

Connecting With Your Body

The secret angel in your spread is Archangel Sandalphon. This is an angel that focuses on my traditional grounding methods. But the particular focus they have on your life is in the card Mother-Father-God.

Think of this trinity as the people who bore you into the world due to the design of the universe. Your birth was actually planned for generations. Did you know the egg that was you was first created in your mother’s womb when she was in the womb of your grandmother? That means some part of you already existed before you or your mother was born.

Not everything was planned and you still have free will, but you were desired and created into being by a divine power.

Part of Sandalphon’s purpose is experiencing spirituality in your own body. You may not understand the full spiritual secrets of your purpose and potential until you ground in your own identity.

The Past Is the Present

This goes further than you think. The second card where we see Sandalphon is called Unity and describes traditionalism, mentors, and friends.

Something I think of here are ancestors, both your genetic ones and your cultural ones. Someone who is adopted has genetic ancestors, but their adoptive family are their ancestors too. And so is the culture they live in and the culture their family’s ancestors came from. They can also feel a strange connection to friends and a culture they immigrated to.

So much of your identity is connected in this weird unity of spiritual convergences. Anytime you feel a pull towards something, you should commune with it in some way.

An ancestor practice is valid here, but really, any traditional aspect you would like to include into your life is good. Someone who isn’t Christian but lives in a Christian culture might find prayer especially helpful because there is that spiritual connection to it that transcends formal belief.

You don’t need to adopt everything in an orthodox manner if you don’t want to, but Sandalphon wants you to syncretize something from a traditional or ancestral path in your own way into your life.

The Relationships That Matter

When I shuffled these tarot cards, I decided to read reversals even though it’s not standard when I use it. That was so I could integrate the meaning of the card without associating that particular angel in the spread.

And in this case, The Lovers doesn’t refer to Raphael, but Sandalphon integrating their assistance in the manner of that card.

This card is about unity with others, often romantic. If you choose to enter a romantic relationship, you’re going to combine ancestral and traditional beliefs and practices into a syncretism.

The most common manifestation of this in my country, America, is when Christians and Jews get married to each other. It’s the norm rather than the exception for the families to celebrate both major practices.

You should look at your relationship with anyone in much the same way: you’re combining two ways of life into something new. It’s not just about doing everything personal to you, but compromising and learning to love what the other person experiences spiritually too.

That is an intimate unity of souls and Sandalphon wants to see that for you. If you aren’t a romantic, you can often experience this with family or friends as well.

Pile 3: Mirror

It’s Okay to Accept Help

With two reversals in your spread, I sense that you don’t have a secret angel working for you yet, but you can attract more than just your guardian angel to be present in your life. The first card, Surrender, is about putting trust in divine forces.

There’s still free will in the universe and sometimes we end up on the bad end of the consequences of our own decisions or the decisions of others. However, the universe does have a plan and that plan is good. Surrendering to divine intervention allows the universe to help in ways they wouldn’t if you focus entirely on your free will.

Consider this practice today. Sit either in silence or with background noise that is pleasant. Close your eyes and feel your heart radiating with bright light. Then let that light transfer to your outstretched hands just like in the cards

Give that small, but sincere package of energy back to the universe as a sign you’re ready for angels to do more in your life. You’re ready for their protection.

How to Recognize Your Angel

The Knight of Water card is about an emotional and romantic energy, especially one delivered by a person or divine messenger. This is the angel you need in your life: someone who helps with your relationships or your flow state in life. This is about falling in love with life and everything in it.

You’ll recognize the presence of your angel through flow. You might emulate this to prepare you for that feeling by being in the presence of water. This includes a bath or shower, rain, and even putting your hand into a bowl of water. You can also try listening to white noise of the ocean, river, or rain.

Really let yourself experience the flow of water. Then code it into your memory. When you feel a subtle hint of this going about your day and no water is otherwise present, that’s a sign from your secret angel they’ve arrived and are protecting you in that moment.

The True Identity of Your Angel

The final card in your spread is reversed. I decided when I shuffled these cards that no named angel in reverse referred to that angel, just the card meaning. So that means the Strength card refers to feeling strong and connected to nature.

What is an angel? Cultures differ in their meaning and origin, but there seems to be a general consensus that they’re protective beings and everyone seems to have at least one. This reading is about a secret angel, meaning an angel working for you in ways you don’t realize. They may even be an angel not normally attached to you.

Due to the nature and water connection of your spread, this protective spirit may not be a traditional angel that most think of, but a protective being like a marine-related spirit animal or a spirit from a local body of water.

Really consider what you feel most connected to and that might just be the origin of your angel’s identity. It may be wanting to bond with you in a special way, but isn’t ready to reveal itself until you accept that they’re willing to help you.

So let them in and you’ll see what good things they can do.
