Your Hidden Sadness: Tarot Pick a Card
If you’ve been drawn to this reading, then you have a hidden wound that needs healing. This may be something you’re aware of, but even if it’s not, this wound has also been missed by the world around you.
However, you can begin healing by using guidance from the universe with this tarot pick a card. All you need to do is select one of the piles of cards above that sticks out to you the most.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Here I’m using the Rider-Waite Tarot and the Angels and Ancestors oracle decks (these are affiliate links that help support me if you make a purchase). Remember you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now it’s time to discover how you can heal your hidden sadness.
Pile 1: Green Woman
Feeling Adrift
The first card in your spread is The Star, Reversed. This indicates a deep spiritual wound that has lingered within for some time. Perhaps you had a bad experience with a previous spiritual path or you have unanswered questions.
When this kind of spiritual pain exists, it can be difficult to feel at ease in the world. That’s because we use spirituality to provide context to our lives.
Without it, we begin to frame our lives around the material world. And we should care about the material world. However, when you contextualize yourself only in the present, you no longer have a past, present, or future as everything that is material eventually falls away in your death.
Understand that spirituality is different for everyone, even within religious frameworks, because it’s an experience of your individual soul. You’re feeling disconnected from the divine and as if you’re now insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
But you are significant.
Seek Inspiration
Your second card is the Hermit with the wisdom message of “Retreat and recharge.” I believe you’re so focused on the material world in ways you don’t even realize that you’ve become untethered from your soul.
This can happen to anyone and it does occur with everyone at some point. But resolving this issue is individualistic. A Christian, for example, might find refuge in a church or with a daily devotional reading. A pagan might choose to perform a ritual or go out into nature. Atheists also have their own methods too: they might study science or do meditation.
Your goal is to break away from the material world and recharge your spirit by communing with the sacred. The sacred is different from what’s normal or “mundane” and this will differ depending on what you are awed by in the universe.
Take a moment to consider what inspires you and then seek out a practice that builds a relationship or bridge to that inspiration.
Make Your Connection True
Your last card is Lady with the wisdom message of “Enjoy growth and reap rewards.” I don’t know if your particular practice is daily or occasional, but understand that it will take some time for you to snowball into a more euphoric spiritual experience.
That said, you’ll notice each time you perform your spiritual practice that you become more skilled and derive a greater connection to your divine.
Some of you will need to experiment. I personally get almost nothing from meditation, but I do enjoy using tarot to connect with the universe. That means your practice may not be the “standard” advice for spiritual growth either. Do what’s going to make sense for you, and allow your connection to get stronger from it.

Pile 2: Yellow Woman
Nobody Recognizes You’re Still in Pain
Here your first card is the Three of Swords, Reversed. It seems like you have some sort of heartbreak in the past, such as a broken romance or friendship, and the effects are still lingering. Yes, you’ve recovered a lot and you’re not in as much pain as you were in the beginning.
But some pains last, and you probably feel like the people around you don’t understand how much you’re still bothered by the broken relationship you experienced. You may even feel ridiculed or unseen because of it and wonder if you truly know what a healthy relationship is.
However, be aware that some pains are invisible, especially if it’s not a physical illness. Many people mean well, but when your pain is lessened, some assume it’s gone. You know that’s not true, but others don’t realize that for you yet. It’s not like they’re trying to be mean on purpose. They’re just oblivious.
You Need to Do Some Work
The next card in your spread is the Lord card with the wisdom message of “Take charge with authority.” I see this as advocating for yourself in two ways.
The first is that you must be willing to admit to those you’re close to that you’re in pain. Chances are, they may say something hurtful without realizing it. That’s why you need to let them know that you’re still hurting from this past wound.
Not everyone will respect this pain since it seems like you’ve already healed, so you may either need to explain or accept that some people just won’t understand.
Most of your healing is going to be internal at this point. That’s why the second meaning of the card is that you need to find some sort of way to move on from this pain.
This could mean directly addressing this trauma through therapy or seeking a new relationship. Often, we’ll let a pain like this linger and we never fill the hole that was left behind accurately. If you haven’t started looking for a new romance or a new friend, now’s the time.
Embracing Your Joy
The last card in your spread is the Sun card with the wisdom message of “Enjoy success and happiness.” I love seeing this card in your spread because it means you can experience immediate happiness or you will experience this soon.
The balance between your sadness and your happiness is going to start weighing more in the favor of joy. This is because the work you start doing to either advocate for yourself socially or address your trauma will have immediate effects. You’ll feel a release of pain and you’ll be able to relax.
You’ll even find that everything you enjoy will even become more brilliant. Your hidden sadness may be there, but you’re about to shine a light on it.

Pile 3: Green Man
Searching for Victory
Your first card is the Nine of Wands. I’ve come to really love this card and I think it discusses some rich complexity to your sadness which suggests a lot of healing is coming your way too.
This card features someone who is beaten up and wounded, but they stand strong. Behind them are soldiers, allies, carrying their own wands and ready to back him up.
I sense that you suffered or are suffering a lot right now, but you’re hoping to score a victory soon. You have more support than you may realize, perhaps family and friends, perhaps your spirit guides. Either way, there’s a good chance you’ll succeed in overcoming your pain and even improving your life soon.
That said, be aware that you may not realize how wounded you truly are. You could be lost in your ambitions or feel like you can’t let other people down. You’re afraid of failure, so you’re willing to sacrifice yourself to prevent it.
Dare to Dream
The next card in your spread is Drum with the wisdom message of “Dream and journey.” I do feel like your current focus is too down-to-earth and lacks a higher perspective. I also see this drum as having a relationship to a war drum and thus your last card.
To empower yourself and deal with your hidden sadness, you need to go within. The trancelike qualities of this card do suggest that you need to get a lot of rest and perhaps allow your dreams to be interpreted. Try writing down your dreams for a few days and connecting those meanings to something which matters to you or common symbols you can look up online.
Your spirit guides will help you to see from a higher perspective. If you don’t like the woo way I just described it, think of it like this: your mind will collect all the data from your life and parse it into a narrative that you can use for further information about your life’s struggles.
Accepting a New Plan
The last card in your spread is Medicine Mother with the wisdom message of “Honour your inner knowing.” I really like the energy of your spread. I sense a lot of strength and purpose, despite your hidden sadness.
But I think, deep inside, you know that you need to address your pain so you won’t fall apart at the worst possible time. You may already be aware that you’re pursuing too many projects, something isn’t working out, or you need to try something different.
Don’t assume you have to keep pressing forward. Think strategically. Yes, you want to win the battle, but sometimes, you need to accept a loss and win the war.
I don’t know if your current battle is one you must lose, but I do think you need to think from a higher perspective so you know how many personal resources you’re willing to commit. Because right now – you’re just letting yourself get hurt. And I don’t think you should have to needlessly suffer.
