Which Path to Take: Tarot Pick a Card
Your free will is a powerful thing. We sometimes forget that when using tarot or other methods of divination like astrology. At the beginning of the year, my March tarot forecast was quite negative. But I’ve grown because I’ve challenged myself so much that my most recent reading is quite positive.
Today, I have a special tarot pick a card reading. You’ll be given two possible paths you can choose to take as well as how to make the most of them. All you have to do is look at the illustrated paths above and let your intuition guide you to the one that sticks out most.
Then, after you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Today I’m using the Everyday Tarot and Moonology oracle decks. Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now let’s see what paths you can take!
Pile 1: City Path
Path 1: Stay the Course
I find your first path interesting because it seems as if there is a contrast between the Blue Moon and The Chariot, Reversed card. However, appearances can be deceiving, and in this case, what’s normally considered a negative tarot reversal is good news.
If you choose not to change anything major about your life right now, then you’ll be surprised to find you’ll still make progress in your dreams. This may seem unlikely to you at first, but the wisdom message of the Blue Moon card does give some important insight: “Believe in the impossible.”
How often have you started something, been frustrated with your progress, and then given up? Then, sometime later, you look back on your efforts and realized you were closer than you thought.
The Chariot, Reversed is about a military leader choosing to stay in place. I interpret this as defending his territory. I also see the stars as being grounded to Earth.
Staying on the same journey you’re already on right now is about trusting your potential and getting practical about your methods. If you do that, and allow yourself some time, you’ll be pleased by the results.
Path 2: A New Course
I love your first path, but I’m happy to tell you the second one is also positive. Your tarot card is the Two of Wands. Do you see how the woman is gazing into the globe, deep in thought? Paired with the oracle card of the Waxing Crescent Moon I sense that you can do something new and different and manifest something amazing.
The truth is that, just like our free will, we have different options in life: including our purpose. While this reading could be addressing a smaller creative project as a path to take, I think the example still holds: you have multiple choices in life. There isn’t just one right answer. It’s a matter of preference.
However, be aware that this path requires more future planning. It can be fun to plan, but planning effectively is different than simply wishing a future into being on a piece of paper. You need to dream big, but you need to think about how to get from “Point A” to “Point B” in a reasonable manner.
Your oracle card’s wisdom message does suggest you can dream with the greatest imaginations you can think of: “Have faith in your dreams.”
When you make a plan, believe that you can achieve it. Don’t just create a vision board with no intention of actually manifesting it. That’s not dreaming. That’s daydreaming.

Pile 2: Forest Path
Path 1: Finding the Path
This path will be a challenging one, but I think the most challenging paths can also be the most bountiful. What I like about this particular path is how rebellious and revolutionary it is compared to how you usually do things. That’s because your oracle card, Third Quarter Moon, has the wisdom message of “Adjustments are required.”
Change isn’t always easy (or perceived to be possible) so we often try to avoid radical changes even if we think it would improve our lives. However, your tarot card, the Knight of Swords, Reversed, does seem to imply that your current course of action isn’t manifesting what you need it to.
Even in its upright position, I find the Knight of Swords energy challenging. But as a reversal, the passion and impulse can become a destructive haste. When you act too quickly, you don’t tend to act wisely – and I think that’s what’s happening here.
Those who do rituals for the moons will often see this moon, also known as the Half Moon or Third Quarter Moon, as an opportunity to review what you achieved during the Full Moon. More time with your thoughts is needed.
Now, this doesn’t necessarily imply intricate plans. After all, only adjustments are required. These changes are important and different, but they’re tweaks, not transformations, and it’s about aligning yourself back onto your proper path.
Path 2: The Path You’re Afraid to Take
Your next path is also difficult, and certainly more challenging than the last, but I think it does provide clarity and catharsis that the other one doesn’t. That’s because the Justice, Reversed card indicates that something isn’t going to go in your favor. And you must make peace with that.
I’ll give you a personal example when I pulled this card myself: I was given unemployment during the pandemic, but one month was determined to be unearned, meaning I would have to pay back about $4,000. This pushed me to re-evaluate my career as I was also suffering from a then undiagnosed sleep disorder and I wasn’t sure if I would ever be able to go back to teaching. I went to the doctor, was given my diagnosis, and learned I had to shut the door on teaching forever.
But you know what? Self-employment turned out to be a much better fit anyway. So even though something bad happened, it provided the clarity I needed to change my life. I see something similar in your spread. Your oracle card, the Full Moon in Capricorn, has the wisdom message of “The end of a tough cycle approaches.”
You’re staring down a scary path. But if you decide to go down it and face those troubles head-on, the judgment you receive, however painful, will help you change direction in such a way as to put your past behind you. The life you’ll have after that will be better than you ever imagined.

Pile 3: Mountain Path
Path 1: Take Control of Your Life
There’s a lot of energy in your first path. That’s because your oracle card, the Full Moon in Aries, promises a direct and impactful moment. Its wisdom message is “A fiery climax approaches.”
Something really powerful is coming your way. The good news is that this is a positive thing. That’s because your tarot card, the Wheel of Fortune, implies that the path which looks most promising to you in life right now does have a pot of gold on the other side.
This card shows up during financial windfalls, increases in material abundance, or when a deeply held dream is about to come true. This fortunate gift will brighten your spirits and make you feel as if your entire life is better than it ever was before.
But, and I think this but is very important, the Aries energy here is temporary. This zodiac sign is very direct but short-lived. As much power as this card promises, it also indicates an end. The Wheel of Fortune is a wheel too: and that wheel turns.
If you choose this path, understand that happiness is fleeting. You’ll soon experience the hedonic treadmill and want more. But, if you’re willing to understand that fulfilling your dreams is not the end of dreaming, take life by the horns just like an Aries would.
Path 2: Taking a Life Break
If the other path’s energy is too much for you, consider a more modest path. There’s something in your life that doesn’t seem to promise many rewards, but which is comforting and relaxing. If you choose this path, then you’ll experience the energy of the New Moon in Cancer. Here, your wisdom message is “You and your loved ones are safe.”
It’s not a bad thing to just sit back and relax. Sometimes, you don’t need to hustle or manifest to be happy – you can just be. Going down this path, at least for a little while, promises a break from the trials and tribulations of life, and isn’t that wonderful?
But there’s another aspect to this spread. Your tarot card, The Devil, Reversed, suggests that taking a break is also necessary self-care. You won’t be facing the sabotage of the devil and can look to your needs. You’ll also no longer feel bound by external pressures.
I do think you may be able to pursue your second path for a short period before the first, so if you want to put a major project on hold and just relax for a while, you can do it. I think a good two to three weeks may be called for.
What if that doesn’t sound like enough time? It may be an indication for some who choose this pile that the second path is best. But don’t feel bad if you’re more attracted to the first path in this spread. Remember: you have options. What do you want to do? Pursue it.
