The Next Chapter of Your Career: Tarot Pick a Card
One of the scariest things you can do is to make a change in your career. Will you make money? Will you be happy? You don’t have to wonder anymore. With tarot, you can easily find the answer with this interactive pick a card.
All you must do is select one of the piles above that sticks out to you the most. That’s your intuition speaking and that’s your tarot reading.
Once you’ve selected your cards, choose below or scroll down to your pile.
Now let’s get to it!
Pile 1
Of all the piles I’ve read today, this is my favorite. For you, it seems like you’ve had a lot of struggles lately and now things are going to get better in your career.
What Led You to This Moment
I sense that you’ve been protective of your career. This is because of the Full Moon in Cancer card that I pulled. Cancer is known for clamming up defensively when threatened. But when Cancer is attacked, they strike back from their safely guarded position.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t give them much room to move, and when they do move, it’s sideways.
A Full Moon in this sign is normally a time to look towards your home and family. It’s possible and even likely the troubles you’ve been facing are entirely unrelated to your career. But whatever the troubles may be, you did have to act like a Cancer to keep your career safe.
The good news is that, like the Cancer crab, you’ve built a strong foundation for yourself and you’re now able to safely move on to the next thing. Sure, you won’t be as direct as other people, but you’re about to move and you’re going to make it from a position of strength.
Your Next Move
Speaking of that next move, the tarot card I pulled, The World, also has a lot of circular energy. This is another reason why I believe your next move won’t be as direct.
This card traditionally means closing one chapter and moving on to the next. It’s the last card in the Major Arcana of the tarot deck, meaning it’s the end of the journey, but a new journey begins again. What you need to do is move on (indirectly) with a new perspective on how to face your career.
Use the personal struggles you faced, even if they might seem unrelated to your career, to inform your decisions.
Notice how four animals are surrounding the woman in the card? I sense you have many options, and they’re all good, so take some time to consider your values and what you would prefer to do.
The Outcome
If you change nothing about the advice I give you, then the tarot card Ace of Pentacles suggests your next chapter is going to be financially successful. An Ace card is always about starting anew, and a Pentacles card is in the area of money. Ace is always a positive and uplifting message, so I really only see good things for you.
But notice something: the Ace of Pentacles is also round. When I’m really sensing in this reading is that your approach can’t be traditional or what you’ve done in the past. You need to learn from your struggles, yes, but the way you act needs to be different than you’ve ever considered before.
Spend a lot of time brainstorming ways to act and really think about different and novel approaches you can try. Just make sure, like a Cancer crab, that it’s in line with your values.
Pile 2
I like this reading, but I’m not going to lie: that third card sends up red flags. For your spread, I sense that there’s a lot of potential, but you can easily waste the next chapter of your career if you’re not careful.
And you need to be careful because it’s part of your destiny!
What Led You to This Moment
The oracle card I pulled here is North Node. The message here is to “Step out of your comfort zone” because, until this moment, you were stalled in your life path.
This is normal, so don’t feel bad. Sometimes, we need to process who we are and what we’re going through before we move on. For you, I sense that you likely became spiritually awakened or had a dramatic revelation in your career which caused you to rethink your work.
What you were doing in the past wasn’t good enough, and because of that, you became increasingly unsettled by what you were doing. It just doesn’t ring true to you. I believe you’re either ready to move to another position in your field or change careers entirely.
Scary, right? But that’s why this card is asking you to step out of your comfort zone: it’s time to embrace who you really are.
Your Next Move
This tarot card, Nine of Cups, features a man sitting in front of a lot of cups. That may seem obscure, but he sees his cups as full, not half-empty or empty.
This person is deeply satisfied with what they have, but they don’t have everything they want: rather, they have most of what they want. And it makes them hungry for more.
Your next career move is to go for what satisfies you, but recognize it won’t satisfy you on every level. This makes sense since the last card suggested you’ll be making a somewhat radical move that takes you out of your comfort zone. You’ll be starting something new, which means it will take time to build up.
But it’s necessary because it’s part of your destiny and what makes you feel like yourself. Even though you won’t have everything you want right away, the satisfaction you’ll make by changing your position or career will do a lot to make you happy.
If you don’t know what that move is, look towards your past, including hobbies, events, or people, and make a list of what you liked most. Your answer will then reveal itself and you just need to find a way to monetize that.
The Outcome
But, I did say that you needed to be cautious. This is because of the Justice card. This is a tarot card about balance, which isn’t always easy to figure out. Even though I think it’s possible that you can move to a new position and change careers to be happier, and it’s what you should do, it can go wrong. That means not every passion of yours or the way you would god about it is right.
You have little room for error. Justice is a card of cause and effect, as well as logic, so I wouldn’t just depend on your intuition and your passion when you make your choice. It should inform, but it shouldn’t determine your action.
For example, a person who wanted to become an actor would not be well-served by quitting their accountant job and moving their entire family to Los Angeles. Chances are, they would live in poverty and make their children miserable. And trust me, their children would complain and rebel enough to make the accountant wannabe actor miserable too.
That doesn’t mean don’t pursue your passion. The person in this example should instead find a new accounting job in the area, join some acting classes, and then audition during the weekends or on their day off. See how that’s a more balanced path? Forge ahead towards your destiny, but don’t expect a lucky break: make your own fortune by creating a logical plan to get there.
Pile 3
Woah, I think you’re heading in the wrong direction in your career, and you don’t even realize it. I don’t blame you, because I’m sensing you have a lot of upheaval in your life and you want to make a positive change.
But it’s not going to end well. Here’s what you need to know to turn things around.
What Led You to This Moment
Every pile I’ve read for pick a card has had some chaos in their life, but your spread suggests that your suffering has possibly been overwhelming and not something you were able to handle easily.
That doesn’t mean you haven’t tried, and I applaud you, because even though things weren’t easy, you don’t want to give up. The oracle card I pulled, South Node, has the message “Don’t let your past hold you back” and that’s exactly what you should do.
But even though you have the best intentions, I don’t think you’re using the right strategy. That’s because you’ve been too influenced by your past and your judgment is clouded. Instead of acting, you’re reacting – and that’s not going to save you. You’re in a survival mindset, not an abundant one.
Your Next Move
What you’re on course to do next is revealed in The Hierophant, Reversed. This is where you buck authority and tradition, and in your case, your past, to achieve more things in your career.
However, this career rebellion of yours is like most rebellions: a violent reaction that has little chance of success against the overwhelming might of an oppressor: your past.
You’re too wound up in your own ideas and feelings that you aren’t looking at what people have done right which you can copy instead. This reminds me of the art school graduate who wants to paint for a living, but instead of finding a stable job (art-related or not), they choose to live in poverty as an act of defiance to a system they deem corrupt.
Unfortunately, this just leads them to suffer and not have enough time to paint anyway.
Study or even reach out to the people you admire to see what they did. Don’t re-invent the wheel here. And don’t look for lucky breaks – look for those who worked and achieved, rather than received a fortunate blessing.
The Outcome
I’m going to talk about two possible outcomes based on the tarot card Two of Cups, Reversed. If you continue on the bad path I talked about previously, then you’re going to alienate the people you love, perhaps a current or future lover. You’ll push all your suffering onto them, and they won’t want to be part of your life. Let’s not even get started about your relationships with coworkers. It won’t be pleasant.
How do you avoid that?
In its up position, the Two of Cards is about forging bonds with other people over shared values. Together, you work towards a brighter future and that makes it easier to support each other when something goes wrong.
You need another person and you need to give more than you receive. This could be seen as family or a romantic partner, but I think it will help you to see it as a business partner or peer that you can bond with instead.
If you already have existing coworkers, make sure you look among them for someone you can befriend. Don’t expect anything from them – but give. This is changing your reaction stance to an action one. If you choose to emotionally give support to another person, especially in a work environment, then you’ll be more receptive to looking at new perspectives based on someone else who’s doing things right. And you need that perspective.
