Mental Health Check-in — Tarot Pick a Card
Hello, my soul friends! Today I have a psychic tarot reading with a mental health check-in. This is designed to boost your spirits with some specific helpful advice on self-care.
All you have to do is follow your intuition and pick the pile that sticks out to you the most.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
For this reading, I’ve chosen the Sacred Self-Care Oracle deck (this is an affiliate link that supports me if you make a purchase). Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now it’s time to uplift and heal.
Pile 1: Yellow Flowers
Water Listens
I see a clearly defined daily or weekly ritual to help you psychologically reset. The first card, Hydrate, makes me think of Dr. Masuru Emoto’s research on water molecules and vibrations.
Good sounds make more beautiful molecular structures than bad sounds. A common spiritual practice born out of this research is to say kind affirmations at a bottle of water and then drink it.
That’s what I want you to do as part of a ritual. You can do this in one sitting or throughout many sittings (perhaps even charging your water by the moon). Say good things about yourself to a bottle of water and then drink it, knowing that you will embody that molecular structure and be spiritually and perhaps physically changed because of it.
Make Your Bed and Other Things
Pair this practice with spiritual cleansing. The second card, Clear Your Energy Field, asks you to cleanse or bless your space. Just like the water experiment, raising the vibrations in your environment will have a positive effect on you.
There are a few different ways to do this. I like to use a sound bowl. This is a great method if you hate mess. Another option is visualization and intention setting. A third no-mess option is rearranging your space following feng shui principles.
But other methods are also common, such as smudging. You can also place crystals and other spiritual objects to amplify positive energy. Pagans and witches usually write sigils and place them behind mirrors and other furniture.
You may also like the idea of salting or using saltwater in a cleaning solution. But research how that will react to different surfaces before using it to avoid damage.
Of course, a particularly relevant and perhaps streamlined approach for your spread is to sprinkle water from your affirmation bottle into your space.
The Power of Scent
Your last card is intimately related to the first two: Aromatherapy. Scent is a powerful jog on our memories so it’s easy to see how scent can alter our brains.
Traditionally, many religions in the West featured animal sacrifice through burning. The idea behind this is that burning the offerings releases a scent that’s pleasing to the gods (Judeo-Christian God included!).
This could be because air is associated with spirit and we receive scent in the air. But, either way, aromatherapy has a long spiritual history and it’s something that will compliment this ritual.
I’m particularly interested in the fact oils are liquids and a common practice in many households is to use an oil diffuser. Oil diffusers work as scented humidifiers, meaning oils are added to a base of water.
You can see where I’m going with this: before putting the water into an oil diffuser, bless it the same way you did your water bottle. And ta-da! Your space is cleansed all day long. Not to mention some essential oils have spiritual correspondences you may want to research.
I recommend this spread’s ritual in the morning so that you can start your day off right, but you can do it at any time.

Pile 2: Green Plants
Time to Get Strong
Your spread doesn’t indicate a singular ritual event or something easy to do. Your first card, Build Strength, is the universe asking you to empower yourself.
Not everything worthwhile is easy to come by, and muscle-building exercises are based on practices where you lightly tear muscles so they can be repaired. No pain, no gain after all.
There are a lot of different ways to build strength and you need to pick something you’d be interested in and something you can reasonably do. Someone who can only exercise at home would be better served with bodyweight exercises or pilates compared to intense deadlifts at the gym.
Similarly, someone who has a physical job where they lift heavy things may find that what they need to do to build muscle isn’t to add exercises, but to have recovery and flexibility practices like yoga.
Generally speaking, you should do muscle-building exercises at least two to three times per week and it should work all muscle groups.
Plan Ahead
So much of your spread is focused on the future. Your goal is to sacrifice now to reap rewards later. The second card, Abundance Planning, isn’t about the Law of Attraction. Notice how the card features traditional money management strategies in the journal.
Ask a financial advisor for help, or if you’re budget-conscious, pick up a financial planning book or look into online resources.
I’m not a financial advisor, but I’d recommend making modest, but meaningful changes in how you spend your money. Then pair it with cultural relevance. Americans, for example, are generally encouraged to spend 50% of their income on needs, 30% on wants, and 30% on savings and debt. City dwellers usually need to spend more on housing so their needs are weighted more.
Get your financial house in order and appropriately allocate your budget to help you stabilize your life. But don’t just stabilize your life: improve it.
Perhaps you’re struggling to make ends meet but you love television and your goal a year from now is to have every major streaming service. The better you manage your money and work towards increasing your income, the sooner you can meet fun goals like this one.
Change Your Mind With Sound
The final card is Music. Here I sense that you need to create playlists that empower you. Spend some time finding songs that really resonate with your desire to be strong physically, financially, and in all ways that matter to you.
Then make it a common practice to listen to this music during times you need a boost. Obviously when you’re working out, but also before reviewing your budget, before going to work, and et cetera.
Music can set the mood and you can plan to make your mood an empowered one.
Pay attention to the songs you include. Don’t just use a ready-made playlist. Make sure you listen to each song and understand the lyrics before adding it. These are your songs now.

Pile 3: Pink Flowers
Prep Ahead
You need to indulge yourself. But let’s invest a little before doing so. The first card, Write a Gratitude List, asks you to set aside some time and write down the things that make life worth living.
You may already have this as a practice, but this spread is asking you to make a special list. If you already have a gratitude practice, buy some special paper or mail yourself the list as a letter. Be intentional.
The point is that you’re going to make this list and then read it later when it’s time to check-in.
So the content of this gratitude list should be extensive if you already have a practice, but if this is new to you, then a broad survey of what you’re grateful for will be sufficient even if it’s not in-depth.
The Power of Touch
I really got the sense when I saw your second card, Massage, that you should do personal massages. When I looked at the hands at the corner of the card, I thought about simple massages you can do to release tension at home. This is about being grateful to your body.
Alternatively, you can ask a family member or romantic partner to help. And if you don’t want to massage yourself, you can offer a massage to someone you care about or sit for an extended session with a pet to show them how much they matter to you.
Humans are mammals and mammals love what’s called allogrooming. This helps social creatures bond and even relieves stress. Yes, your pet will make you healthier by petting them!
So grab your gratitude list, read it, and then enjoy a massage session.
The Power of Touch
The final card is Deep Breathing. I want you to practice a special breathwork session that’s at least twenty minutes long. You can find these on podcast providers or YouTube.
If you like meditation already, make sure you do a breathwork session different from what you normally do. If you’ve never tried meditation, pick a shorter one around twenty minutes. If you hate long meditations (like me) know that this is a one-time thing.
Your indulgence session should look like this: write your gratitude session at least one day in advance, then on the day of your session, read the gratitude list, have your massage session, and finish out with breathwork.
Although parts of this session will be relaxing, it’s likely to be spiritually and emotionally intense, so make sure you do it when you have a free block of time so you can decompress afterward.
I do recommend that you write down a reflection from this session and what you plan to do differently in your life the next day. This reflection doesn’t have to be long: a single paragraph will do. You may also find it beneficial to follow up a day later, a week later, and a month later with a paragraph reflection on the same page to see your progress.
