Discover Your Life Purpose
Everyone has their own life purpose which grows and evolves with them. This is because of your free will: you co-create your destiny with the universe.
But part of that cooperation is knowing what path you’re spiritually aligned with. Once you know, you’re able to modify your life approach to your own preferences.
Today I have a tarot pick a card with a strong undercurrent of what can you add to your life purpose. I got a strong sense from my spirit guides that many of you are already heading in the right direction – you just need another nudge for a particular project or direction.
Want to find out what that is? Look at the piles of cards above. Which one sticks out to you? That’s your tarot reading!
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Here I’m using the traditional Rider-Waite tarot and the Work Your Light oracle decks. Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading. Now it’s time to discover your life purpose.
Pile 1: Blue Flower
An Inner Light In Shadow
Your central card of spiritual guidance is Trust the Niggle with the wisdom message of “What is the niggling feeling trying to tell you?” First: I never pull this card for some strange reason, so I think it’s significant that it has appeared here for you now – especially if you’ve read some of my pick a cards before.
I believe that you’re someone who already knows their life purpose or has a pretty good idea. However, like the woman in the card, you may doubt if it’s really your life purpose or even if you can achieve it. I don’t blame you. The card’s layout is dark and cloudy, appearing almost evil, but that’s an illusion.
Do you see how the woman is clothed in light? Her purple cloak lends an air of spiritual power which she isn’t entirely aware she has. But that niggle is her intuition. She knows better than she realizes.
I think your life purpose is a difficult one that the people around you don’t fully believe. This is discouraging and likely disempowering to you.
The Pain of Standing Out
Your two tarot cards are interesting because I think they describe the conflict at work in your life. The card on the left, The Hierophant, is usually seen with very negative connotations by most people interested in tarot. That’s because it represents traditional order. Most people interested in tarot are unique individuals who stand out, so they can feel oppressed by traditionalism.
I sense that dilemma is giving you problems too. Your spiritual power and your claim to your life purpose have been compromised by the fact the people around you don’t fully understand your depths. This can be painful, especially when it’s from people we love and care about, so it creates this perception that you may be wrong.
But I want to point out something about this card many tarot readers don’t see; order can be good. Traditional values exist for a reason. Instead of viewing your differences as reasons you don’t belong, view them as a justification for what makes you exceptional within the order that exists in your life. You wouldn’t be special without that comparison in place.
Be proud of who you are and let people see that difference can be complex and interesting instead of worrying.
You’ll Have Allies
The last card in your spread, the Nine of Wands, indicates that you will succeed in being seen for who you are, but it won’t come easily. No doubt the pursuit of your life purpose in the style of your individual self will cause confusion and outrage among the people around you.
Even though you’ll manage to get the people you love to understand and accept you (though they may not agree), it will be a struggle. You may lose some people in the process and feel wounded.
But, and this is absolutely crucial for you to understand, there’s a social aspect to this card too. The man here appears to be standing his ground, but one can view that the wands behind him are being held by other warriors on the ground.
I believe you’ll make friends and allies you never expected, perhaps among the most critical people you know, and they’ll be there beside you at the end – not wavering when times get tough. The card after this one is the Ten of Wands, one of domestic bliss, so realize that trusting your intuition until the final conclusion will have a reward at the other end. And you won’t be alone either.

Pile 2: Purple Flower
Your Purpose Is Greater Than Most
Wow, you have a powerful spread! The central card here is Inner Temple with the wisdom message of “Devotion. Tune in to the portal of your heart.” When paired with the Garden of Eden card of The Lovers and the spiritually significant Tower of Babel card The Tower, you have a very strong spiritual message at hand.
I sense that your life purpose has meaning not only to you, but to other people and your source of a higher power. No doubt you’ve been tasked with a soul mission few have been given.
The mirrored image of your oracle card, Inner Temple, suggests that energy flows between you and the universe. Together, your life purpose serves as a portal to your sense of “fitting in” on Earth. I wouldn’t be surprised if you feel like an alien walking around, especially when you were younger. That’s because it takes time to pursue a life purpose, and until you really get started, you may feel like an outsider.
Your soul is very much embedded into the fabric of the cosmos. You’re probably spiritually sensitive in some manner, such as an empath or lightworker.
You Belong Here
In the Genesis story, Eden was a garden on a mountain. This, symbolically, placed it in a position between Heaven and Earth. I see that dynamic at work in your life and with your life purpose. You don’t know how to translate your higher purpose to more mundane, earthly matters. For instance, you want to pursue your purpose… but you also have to make a living!
That’s why The Lovers card is such a good example of the temptations you face. You don’t mean to ignore your higher purpose, but, like Adam and Eve in the story, you’re tempted to think only for yourself. The body has needs and they seem more immediate than your spiritual needs.
You likely feel expelled from Eden too. Despite your temptations, you feel aggressive and upset over the difficulties of the material world instead of delighting in them. You wait for your chance to ascend to a higher plane and leave this world behind forever.
But that would be a mistake. Your purpose isn’t one of the higher plane, but of that symbolic integration of Heaven and Earth. You and what you’re meant to do in this material world are spiritually significant.
Waiting for a Sign
The last card in your spread is The Tower. Often, this card is one of danger or ruin, but here I read it differently. It’s a spiritually significant event that changes the world forever.
I believe you’re waiting for a sign and that you need a sign. I don’t think this is an error on your part either. Your spiritual connection is powerful, but cooperative. You need guidance from your spiritual team before you can move on.
But what will this look like? It can take many forms, but know that it won’t be something small like angel numbers or the sighting of a bird. Nor even a reading from a tarot pick a card. Rather, it’s a significant personal or world event that alters your perception and causes you to change your life plans in some way. When it happens, everyone else around you will notice it too.
I would say journal, but this sign isn’t something you would miss or need to introspect on to decode. Instead, pay attention and allow your intuition to guide you to an interpretation. It’s coming. And when it does, it’ll be like a slap in the face.

Pile 3: Red Flower
Understand Your Roots
The central spiritual message of your spread is found in the Get Grounded card. Here, the wisdom is “Empaths. Highly sensitives. Connect with nature.” But I’m most drawn to the stone head on the right. While there’s a Buddhist quality to the image, I generally got the sense of “ancestors” here from my spirit guides.
I believe you’re being called to your ancestral past to discover more about your life purpose. But why?
I believe clues to your life purpose can be found in your environment. This could be in the place you live, especially if it’s a hometown or a place you feel connected to. Or it could be a reference to the people you’re around.
Either way, you have a connection to this environment that transcends the current time and creates “headstones” when you finally leave it behind. Your life purpose will have an effect on the immediate world around you even after you’re gone. You will be remembered.
And part of forming that connection is to keep the chain linked to the past, present, and future.
Take What’s Yours
Often called the thief card, the Seven of Swords, Reversed has a “take back what’s yours” type of meaning. In your spread, I see less of a criminal aspect and more a reclamation. Think of a spiritual path you turned away from or even the ancestral practices of those who came before you. It could also be a job or skill that has been passed down through the ages in your family or community.
I sense an inheritance and this inheritance defines your life purpose. Don’t make the mistake of assuming what existed in the past must be identical to what will exist in the present. You’re always able to put your own twist on things. And you should.
Through all your cards I see an illumination. The color yellow is present, but in very different ways. This suggests the illumination is more spiritual and all-encompassing. Your life purpose is one of good. You’re correcting what has gone wrong or what has been forgotten. You serve as the person who will set things to right again. You’ll illuminate the shadows that have crept in.
Be Prepare to Go on a Journey
The last card in your spread is the Eight of Cups. Here, we see a man leaving everything he has behind him as he goes into the wilderness. I interpret this for you in a few different ways and I think they’ll all apply in some form.
Your first meaning is that you will go on a literal journey, either physical or spiritual, and you’ll have to leave behind the life you had. This won’t be easy. The cups in the card represent a lot of material riches. You may need to pursue training or lower your lifestyle standards – at least for a time.
The next meaning is that you must be willing to accept that your life purpose isn’t about accumulating wealth for yourself. For some of you, you’ll still make lots of money and have no financial problems. However, you’ll be called to release that wealth in some form to others. Remember that no one takes their wealth with them into the next life, and giving can be a happy experience itself.
But, alternatively, I think your third meaning is simply that you must live a more ascetic lifestyle grounded in nature. Embrace minimalism or at least focus more on your life experiences instead of your material trophies.
Your life purpose is heavily embedded in your environment. The materialism you’ll experience will be in what you do, not in what you collect.
