The Impression You Give in Love: Tarot Pick a Card
No matter your personality, we can all act in unexpected ways in love. But this can be hard for us to see. That’s why I created this tarot pick a card to help you understand how a crush or significant other would perceive you in love.
All you need to do is select one of the piles of cards above that sticks out to you the most.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Here I’m using the Everyday Tarot and the Work Your Light oracle decks (these are affiliate links that help support me if you make a purchase). Remember you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now let’s find out what you’re like in love.
Pile 1: Purple Heart
Obviously In Love, But…
With your first card being the Page of Wands, I sense that you’re able to show a sincere passion for those you love. It’s almost innocent and cute in a way, so you tend to warm the other person up with your affection.
However, be aware that this love is quite youthful. Though sincere, the other person may find your passion too idealistic or not as lasting. You have, in essence, the air of “first love” even in a relationship that might be your tenth.
You’re perceived not to have the depth needed for a mature relationship. But this wouldn’t be a problem if it weren’t for your next card.
Can’t Manifest Your Feelings Appropriately
The problem with the Page of Wands card is that its negative effects could be minimized the longer you’re in a relationship because you can demonstrate your maturity. However, your next card, the King of Pentacles, Reversed, does indicate you cannot currently materially show your affection.
What I mean by this is that you’re perceived to be in love, but your commitment doesn’t have material effects. For example, this would occur for those who forget birthdays and anniversaries or those whose bad habits cause problems in their partner’s life.
This creates an air that you aren’t taking a partnership seriously because your love is perceived as a teenage crush.
This may or may not be your intention, but this is how you’re being perceived.
Find Your Emotional Balance
Your last card is Protection with the wisdom message of “Call back your power. Cut the cords. Soul retrieval.”
I sense that there are a few different meanings to this card, so you’ll probably only identify with one of them.
The first is that you put so much effort into displaying your passion in the moment that you become exhausted by the little details of a committed relationship. You end up thinking there’s nothing more you need to do to invest in the relationship but physical intimacy or saying “I love you” at the right times.
The good news is that showing material affection is easy and completely within your control. Set reminders on a calendar or phone and then pursue those actions when you have the most energy during your day.
The second meaning here is that you may be giving too much of your energy to the other person that no amount of forethought can help you be more responsible. In this case, you should pull back a little so you have more energy.
If you are this person, this may even come as a relief to the person you’re in a relationship with. After all, we aren’t just people in love – we have family, friends, jobs, hobbies, and other commitments. Make sure that both of you have something other than the most passionate parts of your relationship to enrich your lives. It’ll also give you both something to talk about!

Pile 2: Blue Heart
You’re Attractive
With your first card being the King of Wands, it seems like you’re fully in control of your passions. It has a maturity and depth that can be greatly appreciated by others.
A person in a relationship with you would find you charming and attractive.
This passion likely translates elsewhere in life. You probably have a full, and enriched perspective on living which makes you a potentially stable life partner. This would be like someone who is a professional artist – they live by their passions, and they get paid to do it.
You know how to balance what you want with how to live, and in a relationship, this would be a relief to the other person.
You’re Limiting Yourself
However, even though you have these traits, something is missing in your execution. The Magician, Reversed indicates that you can’t see certain plans through.
I was a little confused about how to read this spread at first because the first and second cards are so contradictory. However, after some thought, I think the problem is this: you have a narrower approach to life than you realize or have to have.
Even though you can do more, you don’t. This card features a man who has all the tools he needs to manifest what he wants. But as a reversal in your spread, I see you ignoring all these resources and focusing on one aspect of your life.
This is a shame because you’re artificially limiting what you can experience – especially in romance.
Do More
The last card in your spread is Yes with the wisdom message of “Just say yes.”
The triplicate of women here makes me think of the narrative past, present, and future. I think you have a certain idea or hope for how you want your life to go and you aren’t accepting the happy diversions that can come your way. Your life is becoming a linear story.
To some degree, this is a wise decision. After all, your spread indicates that your current path isn’t the wrong one. Instead, you’re just limiting other things you can do, like be madly and passionately in love.
What the universe wants you to do is be more open to secondary roads you can travel down in addition to your main life goal. If your main life goal is to be in love, this could indicate you’re artificially limiting the type of person you’re open to or the type of activities you’ll do together. And if your main life goal is pursuing a career, you may turn down opportunities to spend time with your person.
For the next few months, be okay with saying yes to trying new things. Don’t worry about starting a new commitment, this can all just be temporary, but it will help you expose yourself to other new possibilities that you can keep later on with discretion. Plus you can have some fun in the meantime you had no idea was even available.

Pile 3: Green Heart
You’re Anxious
Your first card is the Nine of Swords. This is a painful card not only for you, but for anyone you’re in a relationship with. It’s perceived by other people that you’re uncertain and worried all the time. This anxiety makes it seem like you’re suffering and the people around you can’t help you feel any better.
Hopefully, this is just perception, but I think you feel a bit anxious too. Some of you may have been betrayed in the past or you aren’t certain you can see the relationship through for any number of reasons.
The end result is that, from the perspective of a potential lover, a relationship may not be easy with you.
You Can Make Your World Abundant
But the rest of your spread is more hopeful. Complex, but hopeful. Here the second card is the Queen of Pentacles. I sense that you’re able to have a more abundant life than you realize, but you haven’t yet figured out how to manifest that abundance around you.
Because of your last card, this may be a problem of self-confidence or environment. You feel insecure and unsafe, so you can’t let yourself relax and live a life of flow. This in turn can make others perceive that you’re more blocked in romance than you have to be.
Notice the rabbit here. This is a symbol of fertility, especially as I’m writing this around Easter, but also an indication that you can change things quickly once you get started.
That means this impression you give in love is not only temporary, but potentially something you can resolve soon.
Daring to Live
The last card in your spread explains how you can resolve your anxiety. Here we have The Initiation with the wisdom message of “Rite of passage. Crossing the threshold.”
I don’t think you have to think long and hard about what to do as the action you must take is something which is considered a social given. For example, if you’re a shy person and you’ve never been in a relationship, then your rite of passage is going on a first date. For most people, this means creating an online dating profile and meeting for coffee.
Yes, it will require confidence to pursue rites of passage, but you can do them. It just means addressing your anxiety by either confronting it head-on or seeking a trusted confidant, like a friend or therapist. Generally, exposure therapy (trying things gradually) seems to be the common method to initiate yourself to something new.
The way you identify your rite of passage is by asking yourself what is something other people have done that you haven’t. This could be something you’ve never done, or something you haven’t done recently.
Once this is identified, then you create a plan of action on how to address it (or impulsively start pursuing it – for some of you, the less you think about it the better).
Know that going through this rite of passage will result in you going from the darkness present in the card into your personal light. It will be worth it. You can have more than you know – and that includes a passionate and fulfilling romance.
