May 2022: Tarot Pick a Card
May is a month of blooming beauty in the Northern hemisphere. This is a good time of the year to see your manifestations come into focus and enjoy progress on your personal projects. It’s also a great moment to check in with the universe using a tarot pick a card.
All you have to do is select one of the piles of cards above that sticks out to you the most.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Today I’m using the Golden Art Nouveau Tarot and the Angels and Ancestors oracle decks (these are affiliate links that support me if you make a purchase). Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now it’s time to peer into your future for May 2022.
Pile 1: Blue Butterfly
Theme
There’s a clear topic in your first three cards. Arrow has the wisdom message of “surround yourself with protective energy.” I sense that the universe is clearing a path through the chaotic energy of life to make sure that you’re safe this month.
You’re going to be protected by spirit guides, possibly new ones to you, who have a distinct purpose in your life.
Your second card here, Animal Guardian, has the wisdom message of “trust your instincts.” Part of keeping you safe is keeping you aware of your surroundings. This spirit guide will probably take the form of an animal and may appear in your environment as a reminder to look within and use your intuition.
The third card here, Air Guardian, has the wisdom message of “shift your perception.” It seems like the direct meaning of your spirit guides is one of education. I think they’re trying to help you learn important things before you make avoidable mistakes.
There’s something about the way you perceive the world right now which isn’t helpful.
Week 1: May 1st to May 8th
Judging by the card for this week, the Two of Pentacles, you’re going to be juggling a lot of things. I don’t think you’ll have any major failures, but expect to be overwhelmed. Rely on your spirit guides to help you prioritize and listen to your intuition to know when to rest.
You’ll probably learn just how far you can push yourself this week. Be aware that you should never run on 120% though. It’s a good idea to pace yourself, so take this week as your sign for areas of your life that need an upgrade of effort and areas where you need to relax your expectations to secure your wellbeing.
Week 2: May 9th to the 15th
The second week of May is marked by the Four of Wands. This is likely to be the best week of the month for you as this card symbolizes happiness and celebration. If you’re invited to a party or a social outing – go. You’ll bond and enjoy it more than you think.
That said, I do think you may not get as much done this week. Be sure to listen to your spirit guides so that you don’t let anything you started last week drop.
I also think some of your projects make culminate this week and you’ll celebrate what manifests.
Week 3: May 16th to the 22nd
Your next card is the Two of Wands, Reversed. One of your plans is going to fall through this week. But I think it can be avoided. Be sure to check in with your spirit guides frequently to make sure that you’re aware of the situation.
On one hand, I don’t think whatever you drop will be of any major consequence, but it will matter enough to be inconvenient. If you have a lot of projects going on this week, more than one plan may blow up in your face. Expect to be at least a little frustrated in your attempt to prevent this all from happening.
Week 4: May 23rd to the 31st
Your month ends with the Seven of Cups card. Your spirit guides will have helped you to see all the smoke present in your life which makes it difficult to perceive things accurately. Like the man in the card, you’re going to understand that not everything you see is trustworthy.
Rely on your lessons of intuition this month to help transform your awareness so you can make better decisions. I do think you’ll find yourself handsomely rewarded for all your efforts and frustrations this month.

Pile 2: Pink Butterfly
Theme
For you, May is about getting serious with your life. Your first theme card, Protection Guardian, has the wisdom message of “drop your shields.” I interpret the meaning here as a spirit guide is going to protect you from outside threats as much as they can so you can focus on your personal life.
The second card here is Earth Guardian with the wisdom message of “stay rooted and grounded.” You need to find what matters to you most in life right now, such as family or your career, and find comfort and meaning in that. Spend more time on the simple things in that area so you can build up a good foundation for yourself going forward.
Your last wisdom card is Shield Maiden with the wisdom message of “make plans and focus.” Part of this month is about creating a vision for yourself going forward and going down that path. Yes, this plan may change over time, but creating a plan now and starting down that road will help you progress.
Week 1: May 1st to May 8th
The first week is marked by the card Seven of Swords. I got the distinct impression this card has the meaning of strategy for you. Take the wisdom of the Shield Maiden and start thinking strategically about your future.
It may feel selfish to be so focused on yourself right now, but you need and deserve to care for yourself in ways other people cannot. There are certain things only you can do for yourself, so you need to set aside the time and consideration to do so.
Week 2: May 9th to the 15th
Your next card is the Three of Cups. I sense that you’re going to have the opportunity to have a good time with friends or even just a relaxing period of complete joy. Because you probably spent so much time planning last week, you may be a bit stressed out and nervous about your future. Take this time to unwind.
Remember that staying grounded is also about tending to your needs. These needs are varied, but they include socialization and fun. Without both, you’re going to struggle to pursue any of your plans or priorities. This is a great week to avoid burnout.
Week 3: May 16th to the 22nd
The third-week card is The Star. You’ll probably find that the timeout you took last week allowed you to be more open to signs from the universe. Now, in your place of grounding, you’re going to receive these messages and put your plan into perspective.
Be prepared to adjust that plan a little to account for your new inspiration. You’ll also likely want to channel the spirit guide who’s protecting you this month in some manner to help you with this. After all, you’re likely so focused on the physical world that you may miss more divine signs. But you don’t have to if you put some effort into it.
Week 4: May 23rd to the 31st
The end of your month is symbolized by the Three of Swords, Reversed card. Overall, it seems like you have a very positive month and I think you’re going to finally let go of some pain you’ve been holding on to.
I don’t know the exact reason why you’re able to let go of it, so it may be different from everyone in this spread, but I do this your orientation this month is more positive and it’s going to help you be more at peace with yourself than you’ve been in a long time.

Pile 3: Purple Butterfly
Theme
Wow, your month is packed with spiritual meaning! Your first theme card is Sky Father with the wisdom message of “trust in the unknown.” There’s going to be a lot of confusion and uncertainty for you this month, but I think you’ll come to terms with that as your intuition lets you know things are starting to fit into place.
Your second theme card, Seer, has the wisdom message of “see beyond the current situation.” I see that seer as being you. Even though things are going to be rough, and likely have been rough for a while, you’re going to sense that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Your current negative experiences are only temporary or serve a greater purpose in life. For example, sometimes, you have to do something you hate to get something you want.
Your last theme card is Great Teacher with the wisdom message of “learn from spiritual experiences.” Because this is the Jesus card, I get a strong sense that someone or something is going to sacrifice themselves for your greater good. This will fill you with confidence that there’s still good in the world and let you witness the power of will.
They may end up losing some of their time or money for your benefit, so appreciate this sacrifice and learn from this gift.
Week 1: May 1st to May 8th
Your first week can be found in the Nine of Swords, Reversed. I find that this is the most interesting card in your spread because it suggests you’re going to be very accepting and patient with your current struggles.
I believe this is because your intuitive abilities are kicking in and providing you the comfort you need in uncertain times that it won’t last. But if one day is particularly hard, consider looking towards a higher power or doing something that will calm your spirit, like listening to music or meditation.
Week 2: May 9th to the 15th
The next card in your spread is the Ten of Swords. While this is a card of ruin, I read it as “completion” here, signifying the beginning of the end of your struggles. This is why you’re going to feel at ease despite your current pains because you know that pain will soon be ending.
This might be the time to look at your past with a critical eye. Is there anything you should do differently going forward? Now is a new beginning for you. Take those spiritual lessons to heart so you can now live your best life.
Week 3: May 16th to the 22nd
The third-week card is the Queen of Swords. Even though you’re going to feel like the bad times are over, you’re going to feel confused about how to move forward. You can feel deep within you that there’s a path ahead, but you don’t know what it looks like or how to go down it.
Your inner knowing is fuzzy, and this uncertainty is probably going to give you some anxiety. However, try to look at this month and your previous experiences objectively. If your life was a story, what would be the lesson a reader would’ve learned? That’s your clue from the universe.
Week 4: May 23rd to the 31st
The last card in your spread is the Five of Wands. While I don’t think you’re going to feel like you have a lot of answers right now, I do think your struggle with that uncertainty will fall away. Here, you’re going to start getting a handle on your passions and desires and how to manifest them in the world in a healthy way.
Understand that as difficult as this month may have been, you’ve uncovered the shadows and are learning how to cast light in those dark places. No longer is there all this noise and countless, twisted paths around you. There is one path, at least for now, that you’re trusting the universe will help you down. This is a spiritual, rather than a physical, certainty.
I think you’ll have more say in it later on, but for now, see this week as the beginning of clarity within your heart and soul.
