I Had AI Predict Your Future with Tarot Cards

We’re in a robot uprising! Or at least that’s how it feels for some workers because of automation. As a professional tarot reader, I wanted to see how good AI was at giving a reading.

All you have to do is scroll down to your zodiac sign or choose below.

Here I’m using the Mystic Mondays Tarot deck (this is an affiliate link that supports me if you make a purchase). All I did in this tarot reading is shuffle the cards according to the zodiac signs and then let Canva’s Magic Write do the work… with some commentary afterward!

Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading. And who knows: maybe the robots are lying to you because it’s part of a nefarious mechanical plot.

I should note that the King of Wands is a clear symbol of the cardinal signs in this spread. Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. You’re supposed to initiate in life, but this spread does seem to indicate that the coming weeks and months may be difficult on that front.

AI seems in this spread that life happens to you rather than you living life. But perhaps that’s why the King of Wands is reversed here: you don’t have the will you’re used to having.

I would personally also see this spread as a possible indication that you’re burnt out at work or that you need to play more. Either way, you need to spend more of your energy right now on things that make you happy to increase your inner fire. That inner fire is what will motivate you for the bigger things in life too.

It took me multiple tries to get a long reading with this card combination and it seemed as if AI had trouble putting the pieces together into one whole.

Overall I think AI got the individual meanings right, but couldn’t find the central theme of the spread. I think this makes sense as even normal tarot readers may focus on one card and not think of relational meanings between them.

It’s really difficult for the second card to connect with the first and third. Tangentially it connects, but AI’s interpretation leaves something to be desired.

If I was reading this spread, I would want the person to know that they’re stuck and unable to move forward because they have more than one possible option – and both are good! They’re having decision paralysis and don’t know which one is best. Spoiler: you could flip a coin and the result would be the same because they have almost equal value.

The problem with AI’s reading is that you may feel encouraged to abandon perfectly good projects permanently. I think AI is right that you need to be more balanced, but it seems to be implied that you’re making the wrong decisions right now.

Instead, I would want you to know that you’re doing most things right… but you need to do one project at a time before moving on to the next. It doesn’t matter which one you should choose, so if you can’t decide, flip a coin.

I think that focusing on one project will help you think more clearly. It’s not that you can’t do everything you’re doing right now, but it’s getting harder and harder for you to see the big picture. I think that AI really struggled with the connection between the first and second cards. To put it simply, you’re going to face a difficult challenge in the future, but it’s one you must take on and can succeed in overcoming. You aren’t running away even if you aren’t 100% prepared.

However, AI seems to push you to avoid this challenge and see it as going in the wrong direction. Yes, you must accept what you end up encountering, but it almost seems to admonish you for even trying.

I also think that AI fails to see the universe as work in your life too. As Judgment is upright in your spread, it seems like the challenge will end in your favor and you were always meant to take it on.

One of the other problems with AI is that it only uses common tarot card meanings for its interpretations and can’t analyze individual cards from a variety of decks. This one in particular alters the meaning of the page to princess, giving it a royal flair.

That royalty is also one of inheritance: it’s your privilege and your inherent responsibility to take on this challenge. I can’t help but think of heroic stories which usually feature a character of royal pedigree. They’re usually reluctant, but always victorious.
