How to Be Happy: Tarot Pick a Card
Hello, my soul friends! Today I have a reading on how you can feel more blessed with joy in your daily life.
All you have to do is pick the pile that sticks out to you the most. Which animal inspires your intuition? That’s your pile and that’s your tarot reading.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Here I’m using the Kawaii Tarot deck (this is an affiliate link that supports me if you make a purchase). Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now it’s time to bring up your happiness levels!
Pile 1: Deer
Take Risks
Sometimes to be happy you need to take risks. Your spread is all about acting on impulse and seeing what happens. That means I can’t promise that something good will be the result of your efforts, but that things will get moving. It’s much easier to pivot and benefit from momentum than it is from standing still.
The first card in your spread is the Knight of Swords. I love this card because it’s erratic and passionate. It’s a card of pure ambition, even if it is a card where you’re not necessarily prepared.
With this in mind, you need to realize that for you to be happy, you must be willing to learn from failure. If you can’t handle big failures, that’s okay, but make sure you’re setting yourself up for a life where taking small risks is normal.
Don’t plan everything out all the time. Let serendipity and the learning experience be your guide on occasion.
Take Action Now
Although the last card is passionate, your next one, Knight of Cups, Reversed is less about passion and more about rationality. It’s also a sign not to go too slowly.
Take an honest look at your life and ask yourself where improvements need to be made. Don’t attach any dreamy language to this. Do you need to lose weight? Find a better place to live? Be more productive?
Okay. Now understand part of your happiness will come from recognizing what makes you uncomfortable and trying to resolve that realistically. Losing weight is about getting to a healthy body, not being a model. Finding a better place to live is about being comfortable, not opulent. Being more productive is about getting your priorities accomplished, not listening to educational podcasts just so you’ll feel “busy.”
Happiness isn’t only determined by dreams, but by attending to your needs. And your needs can be fulfilled by acting on rational decisions as quickly as possible. For example: don’t create a fancy weight loss plan that takes months to start. Keep it simple: move more and eat less. You’ll figure out the rest along the way.
Make a Sacrifice
There’s some part of your current life that you need to leave behind according to the Six of Swords card. This is a card of transitions and movement, par the course for your spread, so know that whatever change you make is going to be one you truly feel to your core and it needs to happen rather quickly.
It may be uncomfortable to let go of whatever it is. Perhaps it’s only a temporary change, but regardless it will feel like a sacrifice to you at the time.
Sometimes, people will wait before they make any changes and enjoy as much of their past life as possible. But that’s not what the universe is indicating as necessary in your spread. Think of the person who says “Just one more cookie before I start my diet” and then they never start it.
Jump into whatever logical change you need to make in your life. Perhaps you need to go into a monk-like mode for awhile to get it done. Your joy is dependent on making necessary changes and sacrifices now to reap the rewards later.
Don’t Give Up
I would do you a disservice if I didn’t discuss what you’re going to initially feel when you make this sacrifice. Your next card, the Nine of Wands, Reversed, shows that you’re going to feel overwhelmed or alone and no doubt that progress is stalled. Your happiness will be initially delayed so you can harvest it in abundance later.
I keep coming back to the weight loss example not because everyone in this spread needs to lose weight, but because it’s a great illustration of the experience. Sometimes, a person who is on a weight loss journey stops seeing the scale go down for a few weeks or a few months.
This can be discouraging. It often happens because the person needs to go to the next level or it’s just a weird hormone thing. But giving up would mean forgoing the momentum they’ve created. It would be a lot easier to make the necessary adjustments if they didn’t give up when things are temporarily hard and restarting from zero months or even years later.
I want you to know that there’s going to be a period when you’re on the road to change where nothing will feel like it’s happening. I want you to persist. Greater happiness is closer than you think.
This is Your Life
Your final card is the Eight of Pentacles, Reversed. Don’t focus on being a perfectionist. It’s tempting, I know, but you’re going to learn more about yourself along the way.
You’re an individual with unique circumstances. What works for other people may not work for you perfectly, but you’ll never find out what adaptions you need to make until you’re in the thick of things.
A person trying to lose weight may think calorie counting is the way to go (and it usually is), but discover it causes them anxiety so they focus on switching out bad food habits with good food habits instead.
Consider making incremental changes instead of sweeping lifestyle changes that you expect to perfectly implement from day one. This will give you the room to try new things and learn from your experiences.
Over time, you’ll not only get to a point of greater happiness but pave a road you enjoy going down too. Because I sense your happiness will start to grow the further along the path you go towards improving your life.

Pile 2: Dog
Stop and Rethink Things
Do you feel like you’ve made a mistake in your life or you’re about to make one? This spread indicates that’s what’s happening and you need to reconsider if you want to be happier.
Your first card, the Ace of Swords, Reversed, means you’ve either made a decision or you’re thinking of making one that’s not fully thought out. Going down that path will make you less satisfied with your life.
Imagine the person who decides to become a doctor. They’re smart enough to do it, but they know it’s not the career they want. Just because a person can succeed in something doesn’t mean they should do it. Your feeling of dread or regret is a sign from your intuition that you’re going to be unhappy in the future. Ignore it at your peril.
There’s this concept called the sunk cost fallacy. Just because you invested time into something doesn’t mean you can’t change your mind later. But it does get harder from your perception. That’s why there’s no better time than now to change your mind. It’s not going to get easier.
Care About Your Heart
With The Hanged Man, Reversed, your decision or idea for your future is going to feel like a major sacrifice – and not one you’ll be happy with.
You may be justifying your current line of reasoning that the sacrifice you’re making is appropriate. The person who decides to become a doctor may believe their unhappiness is warranted either because of the money or the good they will do in society.
But your individual desires also matter. In most cases, somebody else will not only pick up where you left off… but enjoy doing so. Almost no sacrifice for the greater good is justified at the cost of personal suffering. I generally only see parents being fulfilled by that route and even they would be happier and better parents if they found a life path in conjunction with parenting that they also enjoy.
Life is long. Every moment you live matters and you should arrange your life with that consideration in mind. It’s okay to be a little selfish sometimes. A parent who truly loves their child wouldn’t expect that child to live their life according to a pre-determined plan. They’d let the child have an opinion on the matter. Parent yourself like you’re a person who deserves to be happy.
Love yourself by letting yourself enjoy life.
Happiness is Also Lifelong Fulfillment
Your life is heading in a direction you didn’t envision for yourself. Even if things seem okay now, you’re not only going to feel less happy in the future but less fulfilled too.
The next card, the Nine of Cups, Reversed, indicates that you will feel like nothing in your life is what you wanted.
Happiness is measured by two parameters: joy in the moment and life fulfillment. Joy in the moment can occur even in someone who is depressed or has a terrible life. Perhaps they hear a funny joke, watch a good movie, have an amazing conversation.
But life will feel empty without fulfillment. Just because you have all the other momentary joys in life doesn’t mean you’ll have lasting happiness beyond the moment. There’s a reason why people who are rich and successful sometimes aren’t happy. It’s because they didn’t consider personal fulfillment.
It’s time you recognize these two different parameters when it comes to happiness.
Good Times Ahead
Now let’s talk about the good things. What if you rearranged your life to make decisions you’re happy with? The next card, Wheel of Fortune, indicates you’ll live a life of prosperity or extreme happiness.
It may be hard to imagine now, perhaps because your dreams aren’t necessarily the traditional path, but it’s going to go a lot better than expected. Some artists become millionaires and some busy lawyers have meaningful relationships with their children.
If you live your life according to your desires, it will give the universe time and space to attract good fortune to you. Like attracts like, and a life of happiness will attract more happiness in the end.
Psychologically, this may be because your optimism will motivate you to act on opportunities that present themselves. Sad people kind of give up in the face of opportunity. Whether it’s an issue of mindset or spiritual powers, know that your future life will be what you hope for.
Life Will Be Amazing
Your final card, Six of Cups, is one of nostalgia and safety. I favor the safety meaning more as you’re going to be in a situation of comfort and giving.
I think of the traditional image used for this card in other decks: two children in a walled town enjoying flowers. It’s a happy image and suggests innocence and abundance.
Sometimes people feel jaded about their dreams and assume it will come at a cost. I’m not saying it won’t, but I think pursuing the path your heart is trying to vie for will lead you to a future where everything seems worth it. The sacrifices you do make will be ones you’re okay with and the result will lead you to bliss.
After this reading, I want you to journal or meditate on what you want for your life. Don’t censor yourself or imagine the future you think others want you to have. Then ask yourself what decisions you’re making challenges those dreams.
That difference needs to be resolved. You need to lean more on your dreams right now. That future is a lot brighter and more possible than you can even imagine.

Pile 3: Cat
Meet Others
You have a really happy spread which means you can increase your joy to an extreme level which can only be called bliss. The first card is Three of Cups. This is a social card which indicates you need to be connected to other people or community.
Humans are social creatures and having meaningful relationships with others increases our happiness. But even small talk interactions with strangers can uplift our spirit. That’s because any intentional connection with another person, however small, has a significant positive effect on the universe.
What will this look like for you? It depends. For an extrovert, I’d recommend larger or more frequent get-togethers. Meeting new people is also a good idea.
Introverts are a trickier discussion. They still need meaningful interaction, but too much will oversaturate them. Let’s use an example: small talk is good for everyone, but a long small talk conversation for an introvert becomes tedious sooner than for an extrovert.
Make a plan to intentionally socialize with others at least twice a month if you’re an introvert and at least twice a week if you’re an extrovert. The extroverts should target novel experiences and people, but introverts should aim for people that are already close to them or more transitory events (don’t strike up a conversation in a waiting room as you may be waiting a long time, but striking up a conversation in a checkout line which would be a limited conversation would be appropriate).
Experiment with your limits so you know how much socialization you need.
Lean on Someone You Trust
Your next card is the King of Cups. I see this as either you being a social organizer or that you rely on a social organizer to help you. While I would generally pick the extrovert to step into this role, look into your environment first to see if that person already exists even if you’re an extrovert.
I get a sense that there’s a kingmaker in your social network who can introduce you to other people or things that would be interesting. Those of you who are single and looking to date could ask someone you trust to set you up with someone they know. This is the kind of energy I see in this card.
There’s a heavy focus in your spread about the answer to your happiness being engagement with the external world. It’s good to look within for happiness, but that can cause rumination if you aren’t careful. Spending time in the moment doing something or being with someone can help you enjoy what good socialness can bring.
If you’re currently socially isolated, this is a sign to join a club or some sort of pre-organized community. The person who runs that will have a vested interest to include you.
Things Will Go Right
The third card in your spread is Justice. This is a message from the universe letting you know that reaching out will go better than expected. We’ve all experienced bullies who make socializing a nightmare, but it seems like there’s a lot of good energy in your near future that you can work with.
Even if someone does act out, it seems like they will be dealt with swiftly. This is one reason why having a strong social support network is so good: your friends and family that love you will stick by you when things get difficult.
You won’t have to face some future difficulties alone. Not only does the universe have your back, but it seems like a friend will too.
Value Your Place
Your final two cards represent your place socially. The first of these is the King of Wands. I see this as your vitality for life and enjoyment of social situations “in the wild.” You’re going to feel very competent and happy around others. It will be a very infectious energy and people will want to be around you.
Now I don’t want you to think this means you need to be a perfect social animal. Part of this card is reputation or how you’re being perceived. Even the introverts in this pile will find that the people they connect with really value them.
Focus on quality of time instead of quantity. Small talk is still quality in the right amount, just don’t overdo it. So too is simple “hang out” time with the people you truly care about.
Be intentional with your time. Plan things or be there for important life events. You don’t need to be with people 24/7, but you should be with people when it matters for you or them.
A Perfect Time for You
The final card is not one I normally read with as much positivity as I’m seeing in your spread. The Seven of Wands is about defending yourself from a high position. But in your spread, I see it as you having an elevated reputation compared to what you have now.
Yes, you need to care and cultivate this reputation, but it’s going to be a lot easier than it used to be to maintain it. And I think I know why: the people you ultimately choose to bring into your inner circle will be people who want to be around you even on your bad days. You don’t have to put up a mask when you’re around them. You can be yourself.
So for you, being happy is clearly about finding meaningful relationships with other people and it seems like that particular energy is more elevated right now than normal. Try to take advantage of it because this level of positivity is exceptional rather than ordinary.
