Pile 1: Gold Book
You Have a Sting
Your shadow card is represented bythe Bee. This is a delightful and necessary creature. The bee pollinates the world and helps its hive survive. However, they can be pushed over the edge from overwork or threatened by those who interrupt them which causes them to lash out and sting.
This is a tendency you have too. It may be something you’re already aware of and not proud of, but I don’t think you fully realize the ramifications of this attitude. Although bees are delightful creatures, many are afraid of their stings and they can even die from allergies! You don’t fully understand how spiteful and dangerous you can be when angry.
Yes, when things are going well, you can be placid and downright lovely. However, when things don’t happen in your favor… watch out!
Your Anger Is Fuel That You’re Burning
The next card in your spread represents how your life is affected by your negative behavior. Here we have the Father of Wands, Reversed. Because you can be a bit explosive, this leads you to act like a rabid snake at times, constantly striking whenever you feel threatened but in a way that’s against your nature.
When things are going well, you’re full of passion, charisma, and vision. But when you let your anger get the best of you, the fire within becomes so dangerous that it burns you alive.
While you may think exploding your anger into the world diffuses its effect and helps you get back on track, it only distracts you. Your mental state completely changes and it takes some time to re-orient yourself again.
And the cost is that some of your passion or momentum is sacrificed because you channel it into your anger instead.
Be Proactive
The good news is that what’s happening here is a behavior, not an identity, and behaviors can be changed. Your last card is The Hierophant which represents order and education. You may find it especially helpful to seek out therapy or a support group if your anger is extreme.
However, for most of you, the anger you experience is something you can handle on your own. The first thing you need to do is make sure that you aren’t needlessly overworking yourself. Ask if you need to eliminate some projects, at least temporarily, or delegate them to someone else. Looking into productivity methods may also be a good idea if you haven’t already.
Stress relief is another important consideration. Make sure that you have adequate rest time which is truly restorative.
Finally, consider pre-gaming your responses to interruptions. What will you do and how will you react if someone gets in your way? Having a plan for when interruptions happen means you can better control the way you react.

Pile 2: Blue Book
Unfocused Energy
The first card in your spread that represents your shadow self is Snake. The meaning of this card is one of magic and creativity. But this energy, while ready to strike out into the world, can be impulsive and lack the follow-through necessary to achieve any large projects.
No doubt this can be frustrating for you because you’ll constantly find yourself interested in new ideas and want to pursue them, but unable to commit for any long period of time.
A good example of this would be a writer. Something with this energy is probably not going to succeed by being an epic fantasy author. The books are just too long. However, they would probably do well with shorter fiction, blogging, or even poetry.
That’s not to say you can’t commit to big projects, but that it’s going to require far more effort than most and require more training and practice to change your nature. You simply have too many ideas to be satisfied with dwelling on one.
Abandoned Projects
Your second card represents how your shadow self is affecting your life. Here we have the Seven of Pentacles. There’s good news and bad news with this card.
You’re really good at coming up with ideas. You plant so many seeds that one of them is bound to succeed. The bad news? You have a lot of duds, and sometimes you don’t nurture the seeds that germinated effectively.
Take an honest look at your life: what was something you started, but then abandoned, and in retrospect, you could have manifested a lot more had you focused on it? That’s where your energy in this spread is having negative consequences.
However, you use this energy to your advantage. Sometimes the best thing a person can do is plant many seeds and see which one grows. Don’t despair that you start so many projects, and always do so, but make it your goal to identify the most promising seeds that you’ll continue investing in.
Look into morning pages. Basically, this is spending time each morning to free write three pages of whatever comes to your mind. Still permit yourself to explore.
It’s Not All About the End Game
The last card in your spread is the Six of Wands, Reversed. I had to take a moment and think about how this card should be interpreted in your spread, and I decided two distinct meanings apply to some of you and not the other. So consider which one resonates with you the most in this reading.
The first meaning is that you need to stop focusing so much on dreams of success. I do hope you succeed, but if you focus too much on how your ideas will be admired, you won’t care to put into the work. You’ll be too focused on the end goal and not the process. You need to love the process if you want to overcome too many ideas syndrome and put effort into any one thing.
The second meaning is that some of you are pursuing ideas that aren’t going anywhere. You’ll know if you’re this person if you feel an overwhelming sense of dread. Trust that feeling: inspiration is a powerful element of Snake energy, so using your intuition to discern the projects to pursue and continue is key.

Pile 3: Red Book
Feeling Defenseless
Your first card is Deer. This animal represents your shadow side and here it means a quiet nurturing. On the surface, this card has mostly positive traits and I don’t think you’re problem is any sort of aggression towards others. But rather, you tend to find yourself a victim.
It’s the female deer being represented in this card, and unlike the stag, they don’t have many means of defense. They’re at the mercy of hunters, overpopulation, and the environment.
You may find yourself constantly at odds with the world. It’s too cruel and you’re not prepared for it. That’s not a failing of your own character, but an inability to match the aggression of the world to advocate for yourself.
It’s going to take a lot to protect yourself. And you’re not going to feel like you have the right or capability to do it.
Know Your Limit
The second card is Nine of Wands, Reversed. This card is meant to stand in for how your shadow side affects your life. I like to read this card as being “not as overwhelmed” but also lonely.
I think you try to distance yourself from others to protect yourself. You only have so much energy and other people can be demanding or even dangerous. For the most part, this is an appropriate reaction. However, you can be selective without being reclusive.
You must understand your limits in life. If you don’t know where the line is, you need to test yourself and you shouldn’t probably do this often so you can expand your personal territory. Not everyone is trustworthy, but some people are, and you should make them your family, friends, and personal community.
However, never exhaust yourself. It really does hit you more than others when you’re victimized by the world. You need to be cautious to respect yourself.
Receive Divine Gifts
Your last card is Son of Cups. This is such an optimistic card and I have to say that despite how you may feel about your shadow self, there’s more hope in this spread than the others.
My favorite way that someone ever described this card is as a happy surprise. See how the bird is present for the unveiling of a magical energy in the cup? You’re a very receptive, emotional person and can flow with the universe in ways other people don’t.
This can translate into creativity or true, deeply felt bonds with others. Although you should always use discernment, don’t automatically refuse anything that comes your way. Take a deep breath and compare it or the person to your system of values. As long as there aren’t any glaring deficiencies, you should entertain the possibility even if what’s being presented to you is imperfect. It’s about pushing your boundaries further and further out.
It seems like the universe wants to send many happy gifts your way that other people would never recognize – but you can!
