Break Through Obstacles: Tarot Pick a Card
The universe has noticed something is blocking you in life and you need to defeat it. That’s why you’ve found yourself at this tarot pick a card reading.
All you have to do is look at the piles of cards above. Which crystal stands out to you the most? That’s your pile and that’s your tarot reading!
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Today I’m using the Wild Unknown Tarot and the Animal Spirit Oracle decks (these are affiliate links that support me if you make a purchase). Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Let’s see what your crystal says about breaking through your obstacles.
Pile 1: Blue
Emotionally Blocked
The funny thing about your spread is that your Ace of Cups card originally came up reversed. I felt a little off about that card, and as I was taking the picture for it I didn’t notice I turned it right side up again. I consider this a message from the universe about your obstacle which is important for you to know: it’s very easy to overcome. It just doesn’t seem like that right now.
As a reversal, this card is about being emotionally blocked. This can refer to a relationship. If that’s the case for you, there may be problems in your romantic connection or even with someone you hold dear. It can also indicate that you’re single and don’t want to be.
However, this card can also mean you may be feeling depressed or not hopeful about your current direction in life.
Regardless of whether it’s about a relationship or your life perspective, your emotional health has suffered. And when this happens, we tend to dig ourselves into a hole.
Look for Happiness
When I first saw your second card, Whale, I instantly thought of the way that whales beach themselves onto the ocean. There’s a bit of a mystery as to why, though there are some theories. It’s never because the animal is healthy or living in peace.
I think you’re self-sabotaging yourself and making your emotional heartbreak worse. Have you ever noticed that when somebody suffers a breakup, they’ll listen to sad songs to match their mood? That’s what’s happening here.
Instead, embrace the healthy energy of this card. Whales sing songs to each other, and I think you need to do things which will improve your mood. It may not seem meaningful at first to listen to upbeat songs or watch heartwarming animal videos, but you’ll be surprised by how it positively alters your psychology.
Of course, there’s more work to be done, but I think part of the reason you haven’t been able to do it is that you’re not in the right headspace to even begin. Now’s the time to work on that headspace.
Enter the Cocoon
Your final card is Butterfly. Whenever I see a butterfly, I can’t help but think of how they’re often used as spiritual symbols in tarot. It can represent cycles as a butterfly is first a caterpillar, then a cocoon, and then transforms into its beautiful final form.
Right now you either need to enter your cocoon or you’re currently inside it. This is a time for self-care and preparation for your future. It’s okay to take things a little easy because your soul, and your emotional wellbeing, are being broken down and rebuilt.
At times you may be especially sensitive. However, this will pass and you will become stronger as the parts of you that are broken begin to renew.

Pile 2: Pink
You’re Afraid to Lose What You Have
Your first card is the Four of Pentacles, Reversed. I sense that you have a scarcity mindset and this is causing you to be afraid you’ll lose something. For most of you, this is likely money, but for others, it could be a possession such as a house or even your health.
This is a card of greed, but when I see this card reversed, it’s greed that comes from fear. Sometimes there really is someone or something trying to take from you. Perhaps you might lose your job, a flood could destroy your house, or you’ve fallen ill.
When this happens, it can seem like there’s no escape and your only option is to protect what you have with a lot of ferocity. However, while the rest of your spread does suggest a bit of aggression is good, you need to separate your fear of scarcity from your protective energy.
At your core, you’re afraid that nothing you do will matter. And while there are certainly limits in the physical world, you’d be surprised by the sort of resources that could be available to you. Some of these resources are spiritual or internal, but don’t discount family, friends, or even charity.
You are at risk of being so protective that you’ll never embrace an abundance mindset again. And that tends to create a dragon who will guard what “riches” they have until the day they die… and not spend a single coin.
Think Strategically
So your fears are valid, but you need to be mindful of how to protect yourself. Let’s get into the aggressive energy of your spread. Surprisingly, your spread is more aggressive than most spreads I’ve seen in the last year. This does indicate a need to be fierce and decisive.
Your second card, Tiger, features a very imposing animal. There’s a lot of passionate energy here which has some magical components. Tigers are nocturnal creatures who hunt at night, so a connection to the moon is strong.
Consider breaking down your actions into monthly goals. You can follow the lunar calendar, but simply making it a plan to tackle your current materials problems step-by-step is key. What is something you can achieve in a single month? Work towards that: don’t worry so much about long-term goals compared to more immediate, practical ones.
This will help to alleviate some of your fears because you’ll start to see a return on your investment of effort. See how this can be an aggressive and forward energy, but not so aggressive that you aren’t productive?
Channel Your Aggression
Your last card is Snake. Here we see the snake curling around an image of sacred geometry. But this snake isn’t protecting material goods, but rather your creative or life potential.
You mustn’t look at your material wealth, whether it’s money, your possessions, or even your health, as your potential. Instead, you need to look at your relationships, skills, and spiritual connection. That is what will drive you.
Rich, healthy people can be very unhappy. Some economists even argue that modern nations are post-scarcity societies because we invent needs through marketing. That’s an interesting concept, and it’s important for you to consider because you can channel the more creative, less necessary interests you have to create additional wealth.
What can you do that’s unique? This may be the way you love someone, but it could also be something artistic or even a spiritual practice. Although none of this is “needed,” it will enrich your life experience beyond your physical necessities. Wealth isn’t only material. There’s intangible wealth too.
You can’t only live for material reasons, though material needs are important. It’s time to channel your aggressive energy into pursuing something you’re passionate about.

Pile 3: Green
Feeling Despair
With your first card being the Nine of Swords, Reversed, it seems like you’re recovering from a state of anxiety. Anxiety isn’t just a mental or emotional state, but is physically painful. Your body has taught itself to prepare to be attacked, so you’ll alter your daily behavior to prepare for that outcome even if nothing is going to hurt you after all.
Although the reversal does indicate you’re slowly coming out of this state already, likely because you’re trying to heal from past trauma or a negative life event, it’s not been easy. The image on this card is horrifying and really captures the despair of what this card is meant to portray. It can feel like you’re dead inside and the worms are already eating your corpse. And yet you’re awake! Talk about a nightmare.
As you can see, what you’re experiencing is very profound and you may not always have words to describe what you’re feeling. You may feel like other people don’t understand either.
Because of this, overcoming your obstacles will take time: but the universe is telling you right now you’ve already started down the path. You will reach that finish line where the anxiety will fall away.
It’s Okay to Sting
There’s something unexpectedly hopeful about the Scorpion card. I think it’s the warm energy emanating from its sting that illuminates its body.
You need to defend yourself. That may seem cruel at first, but putting yourself above others who hurt you will improve your life in the long term. The first thing it will do is reinforce the idea in your mind and heart that you’re a valuable human being.
Your despair may stem from other people, but you could also be in a situation where the people around you don’t understand what you’re experiencing and make it worse. That’s one reason why standing up for yourself is so important: people need to know you should be treated better than you are right now.
Coming clean and being upfront will help you start being honest with yourself too. I think you’ve started to talk down to yourself and may have backslided a little in your recovery.
Show Your Tailfeathers
The last card in your spread is the Peacock. This is a bird famous for its beautiful display of feathers. There’s a lot of courage and openness in this card and I think you’re going to find yourself being more forward than you were in the past.
People who are in a state of anxiety are unlikely to speak in public or put themselves forward. When I went to college, the number one reason someone dropped out was because of the public speaking class! Anxious people don’t like being exposed because they think they’ll never be recognized for anything good.
However, the universe is indicating that as you recover and learn to stand up for yourself, your self-worth will improve to the point that you become proud of who you are and the things you do. Be prepared for your desire to show yourself to others to increase. It may be small right now, but as time goes on your going to find yourself feeling braver and braver.
Don’t push yourself farther than you can go at any one moment, but if you think you can do it, allow yourself to stand up and be brazenly yourself whenever you feel the excitement to do so.
