Is Someone Betraying You?: Tarot Pick a Card
Hello, my soul friends! Today I have a reading on whether or not someone in your life is betraying you. This isn’t about a significant other cheating on you, but anyone in your life who is acting against your interests.
All you have to do is pick the pile that sticks out to you the most. Which image inspires your intuition? That’s your pile and that’s your tarot reading.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Here I’m using the Crow Tarot deck (this is an affiliate link that supports me if you make a purchase). Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now it’s time to find out who could be working against you.
Pile 1: Drum
There’s a Wall in the Way
There doesn’t appear to be someone who is betraying you right now. That said, your spread does indicate that you’re facing obstructions you might perceive as betrayal. Let’s get into the details.
Your first card, Ace of Swords, does mean that you’re in a good position. You have ideas or plans to act on, but they’re rather new.
This can be a little scary since there’s no guarantee you’ll succeed. Because of that, I think you’re wary of anything that gets in your way. Your idea is either objectively good or you expect the people in your life to support you. It’s confusing why they aren’t as excited for you as you are.
But you can’t help but feel as if there are unnecessary challenges you’re facing and it’s making your life harder than it needs to be. You have too much work to do!
Life on Detour Mode
I do think some of these obstacles are in your head. The second card in your spread, Nine of Swords, suggests that you’re overly anxious and it’s taking a toll on your mental health.
It seems as if you’re starting to get paranoid. I bet many who chose this pile are thinking, I HAVE DOZENS OF ENEMIES and fear betrayal around every corner. The idea that some of your paranoia may be unfounded is unsettling and even insulting.
But you need to understand the difference between challenge and betrayal. And also that some of the challenges you’re encountering can be overcome.
Because you have a lot of work ahead of you it may seem like every challenge is proof that the universe is conspiring against you. However, that’s not really the case. And I think this mental unraveling works against you instead of protecting you.
Are you using the belief that people are conspiring against you as an excuse to give up? Life can be hard, but not everyone is malevolent. Sometimes there are just extra steps in the journey of life you need to take.
Psychological Freedom
There’s some great news in your final card. This is The Devil, Reversed. You’re going to overcome your anxiety and be liberated from that mental oppression.
However, it’s going to take recognizing your bad habits and correcting them. Consider a simple restatement of challenges. For example, when someone tells you no, instead of choosing to believe they want to hurt you, it would be better to tell yourself, “This person has a different preference for me. But I can still get what I want if I look elsewhere.”
Affirmations like this will empower you and help you to see the good in the people around you even when you want different things.
Of course, you will inevitably encounter people who aren’t nice in the future. That said, know that it seems like the majority of people in your life right now aren’t actively betraying you even if they aren’t in direct support of your goals.
You can and will succeed by approaching things differently. And you’ll feel better because of it.

Pile 2: Mushrooms
Love is Oppressive Sometimes
Your spread indicates that what you want is being overruled by what another person wants. This isn’t malevolent and isn’t a direct betrayal, but you understandably would feel that way once you comprehend the extent of their desires and actions.
The first card in your spread, Ace of Wands, means that there’s something you desire for yourself in life, but you haven’t yet manifested it. You’re hoping to work towards it soon or are starting to, but the progress you’re making hasn’t yet been great.
You don’t quite understand why this is the case. You perceive, at least subconsciously, that someone is working against you. But it’s hard for you to determine who this person is.
Why? Because the person who is acting against your desires still wants the best for you, but they strongly disagree with what you want for yourself. And that makes you sad. Some of you may even pretend it’s not happening.
This person is likely to be a parent, but other loved ones or even a mentor could be responsible.
You Willingly Bind Yourself
The second card in your spread is the Eight of Swords. All relationships require compromise and even lead to a little bit of voluntary bondage. Restrictions are just necessary to keep relationships moving smoothly.
That said, the person in your life who is working against you has restricted you in such a sense that you willingly conform to their desires instead of yours more often than not or in areas that matter.
But the reality is that what this person wants for you is just a preference, rather than better judgment.
This would be like a parent who pushes their child to pursue a certain career over another, even though that child could succeed in what they like best.
You need to understand that even though this person doesn’t have bad intentions, their intentions are not sufficient reason to conform to their will when it comes to your dreams. You need to assert your independence in this matter.
Chances are in time they’ll come to accept and even admire your choice – but probably not for a while and this is why you’re putting it off. You don’t want hurt feelings between you. But they’re already hurting your feelings.
They Identify as a Smothering Helicopter
For most who choose this pile, the Queen of Pentacles indicates that the person betraying you is a female family member or close friend. There’s a strong, feminine energy and it’s both nurturing and practical.
This person is trying to balance their love for you and their desire to do things a certain way. They believe their judgment is better than yours, so they may come off paternalizing. This makes sense more for a parent than other relationships, but no matter who this person is you’re probably feeling suffocated.
Not everyone will find that this person is a woman, but you should be looking for someone with a nurturing, practical energy. They’re always trying to mother you and think they know best.
Going forward, you need to make sure this person doesn’t have that kind of overwhelming authority on you in the future. You need to disengage from empowering them to make decisions for you, otherwise, you’ll constantly feel as if they’re betraying your desires by trying to control you.
Stop giving them that power.

Pile 3: Vase
Lurking Traitor
There’s definitely someone out to get you. No doubt about it in this spread. Your first card, Page of Swords, Reversed, indicates either a youthful person or a competitor. They take a lot of risks and are even a bit impulsive. Chances are, they make enemies easily and you’re their current enemy.
I don’t see that this person is going to be successful in the long term, but their actions are going to warp your sense of trust. I think that’s because this person will pretend to be your friend or at least not actively malevolent.
Then, once you’re comfortable with them, they’ll strike.
This person feels jealousy and envy easily. They value what others value, and because of that they don’t want what they themselves want, but what you want. And they’ll do whatever it takes to steal it away from you. Evil isn’t original. It only has the power to destroy, not create.
I think this person is either tempted by evil thoughts because they want to take shortcuts or they’re evil to the bone. But don’t make excuses for their bad behavior just because you want to be nice. This person doesn’t want to do anything nice for you.
They Want to Ruin You
What this person is doing right now can be seen in The Chariot, Reversed card. They want to halt your progress in life by any means necessary and are either currently succeeding or about to in a big way.
Take some time to consider who in your life would benefit by taking what you have or seeing you fail. This person is likely to be a peer or coworker, but it can be a family member. I don’t really see it as a friend unless this person is part of your friend group and gives off frenemy energy.
This person is going to struggle to be friendly for extended periods. So they’ll either pick someone to bully and target their negative attention to or be a bit of a loner without meaningful relationships. There’s just something off about them. Some in this pile might even find that this person seems to have psychopathic tendencies.
Who in your life would benefit from getting in your way? Who fits the profile of a bully or a loner? That’s the person who’s trying to betray you.
Unhappy Future? You Can Stop It!
Although I don’t think this person will remain in your life forever, I do think they’re going to have a powerful effect on you if you don’t identify and cut them out of your life.
The final card in your spread, Ten of Cups, Reversed, suggests you’re on track to suffer emotional misfortune. This could be a homewrecker, thief, or abusive person who can belittle you in such a way that you don’t even feel comfortable at home.
Know that this person only has the power you give to them. No matter what actions they take, successful or unsuccessful, the moment you push them out of your life is the moment you can start to heal.
The sooner you push them out the less pain they can inflict on you and the fewer goals and dreams they can destroy.

Hi Emmarie,
This came just at the right time for me! I chose Mushrooms and wow did it hit home!
I have been agonising for months how to tell my eldest daughter something she was likely to disagree with my approach on, and when she found out about it, she got very parental with me and told me I was being selfish and gave up the right to make certain decisions when I had children. And now for 2 days I have been pondering this, if I should change direction, if indeed I am being selfish.
But the thing is, I have been very connected with the universe and angels being guided in the direction I made the choice to go in. I get constant validation through angel numbers and meditation and now this reading that I am not wrong. I felt like I might pay for a specific reading about this, but it seems the universe keeps sending me validation. And I have been repeatedly been given messages to ‘trust’ and ‘manifest’, so I thank you (and the universe) for sending me this reading via you!
Sending you light and love!
Kat
I’m glad this could echo the messages you’ve been receiving, Kathleen! I can be hard to trust, but I think you’re getting closer to that point and I wish you the best! 🙂
