Meet Your Spirit Animal: Tarot Pick a Card
Hello, my soul friends! Today I have a reading on your spirit animal. This may be a lifelong companion or a spiritual creature stepping in to give some help right now.
All you have to do is pick the pile that sticks out to you the most. Which illustration inspires your intuition? That’s your pile and that’s your tarot reading.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Here I’m using the Wild Unknown Animal Spirit Oracle and the Soul’s Journey Lesson Oracle decks (these are affiliate links that support me if you make a purchase). Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now it’s time to meet your spirit animal.
Pile 1: Cottage
The Octopus
My first thought when I saw that your spirit animal is the Octopus is sentience. The octopus is considered one of the most intelligent animals in the world and I see you needing wisdom. But also think of what octopi are known for which are their many hands and ability to use tools.
Your spirit animal can help out in many areas and assist you with “accessories.” That means they have a very tangible energy and a necessarily spiritual one. This spirit animal will come in primarily through unexpected finds, useful tools, or interesting tricks that make your life easier.
This makes sense. You never see an octopus in your daily life unless you go to an aquarium or the ocean. Most of this spirit animal’s aid is unseen. It probably won’t feel spiritual to you at all.
For that reason, you may be entirely unaware of when they’re at work, though some of you may have visions of the octopus in your dreams or notice pictures of octopi in your daily life. That’s usually a sign that they’re actively working on something.
Just remember that what they rule over are going to be matters of wisdom, anything with a tangible connection like tools, and water-related issues.
Take Back What You Let Go
Right now, your spirit animal is helping you with the themes of the next two cards. The first is Grief with the wisdom message of “I understand that losing something is an opportunity to appreciate it.” One of the meanings of the Octopus card is boundaries due to having your hands in too many things at once.
I think you may make the mistake of trying too many things at once. This leads you to accidentally drop or lose another project you’re working on. This is likely to be disheartening as you’re following all the new bright things in life and not realizing what you had was already good enough.
Don’t beat yourself up over this. Sometimes it’s hard to recognize the value of something without comparison or until it’s no longer in our lives.
When you find this happening and you long for something you’ve now realized you’ve lost… it’s a sign to go back to it if you still can. For example, someone who is studying a foreign language but then gets sidetracked by learning programming may come to realize that human languages made them happier than mechanical ones.
Sometimes it’s not even a matter of the new thing not being good, but that the new thing isn’t as good as what you had. Always remember that your preferences matter more than an arbitrary quality assigned by other people.
Listen to the octopus when it comes to matters of the heart. Just because something is shiny and new doesn’t make it last. It’s good to try new things, but not everything you try will replace the old or have a place in your life right now.
Liberation On Its Way
The next thing that your spirit animal can help you with is Freedom with the wisdom message of “I possess the power and the free will to create my own happiness.” There are times when you’re going to feel helpless to manifest the life you want – but that’s not true here.
With the Octopus on your side, you should look to your external environment for resources to help you when things get tough. Think of these tools as the secret key to your success. Don’t bottle things up inside and ruminate. Journal or speak your thoughts to use that external energy to your advantage.
Your goal is to expand your energy to make things happen. Reach out to other people, tools, whatever. You don’t have to do things without help. It’s time to look outside of yourself.

Pile 2: Statue
The Rabbit
Your spirit animal is The Rabbit. I’m fortunate to see rabbits often where I live and it warms my heart. In Western culture, the rabbit has a fond place in the hearts of many because of the Easter Bunny. Also, they’re adorable. Your spirit animal is one of comfort and goodness.
And abundance! Rabbits proliferate like crazy – even under the worst of circumstances. Sometimes, quantity is king.
But there’s more symbolism here and it’s important to recognize. This animal represents being overwhelmed and also fearful. This spirit animal doesn’t intercede so much as represent the times when you’re feeling victimized and what you need to do to escape the predators in the game of life.
Yet even when that happens, know that you can persist and survive. You’re quick and resourceful, so if you lean on those traits in trying times you should be able to come out on top.
Rabbits are a common animal which means you’re likely to see them either in the wild, as a pet, or as cultural symbolism. Because of this, you shouldn’t assume their presence is automatically a sign they’re at work in your life or you’re receiving a message from them.
But if it appears again and again, or in an unusual place, slow down your fretting heart and ask yourself what resources you have at your disposal. Because something is threatening in your life, however small, that’s causing you to get overwhelmed.
Live In Truth Always
Right now this spirit animal is working on the themes in the next two cards. The first is Denial with the wisdom message of “I acknowledge my fear, but I replace it with the insight of awareness.”
Sometimes fears are unfounded, especially when it comes to social situations or fear of being criticized. But other times, our fears are reasonable. What you need to do isn’t dismiss your fear or let it overwhelm you, but work on perceiving the truth behind that fear.
What is the origin of it? Is that origin unreasonable? Is there a fix?
Part of fear is denying the origin of it and seeing only the fear itself as your fixation. When you’re afraid, you’ll find yourself lost in the fear and paralyzed – just like rabbits.
Did you know that when a rabbit is really scared it can have a heart attack and die?
What does this mean for you, though? Fear to the point of paralysis is the problem and you need to process the fear and react healthily. Identify areas that fill you with fear or things you’re afraid of happening which could reasonably occur to you in the future.
Then work through reactions and coping mechanisms. Scared of the dentist? Research ways to alleviate that fear and then work with your dentist the next time you go. Don’t be so scared of the dentist never go again.
That would be paralysis at work and there are consequences to that. Freeze when a predator is coming your way and be devoured. Run or fight instead.
Joy in the Details
Your last card is Humor with the wisdom message of “I choose to focus on the lighter side of life.” Honestly, rabbits are delightful despite the sometimes sad things they’re associated with.
It may seem disappointing that one of your spirit animals is a timid rabbit, but not all spirit animals need to be aggressive. Sometimes, they can just represent the parts of your life you struggle with, as is, or represent the softness you need.
Life needs softness and the rabbit qualifies for that. What you need right now is light and innocent energy. Enjoy time relaxing, playing, and just being at peace. If the rabbit is your spirit animal right now, that’s something you need. Healing.
This is a spring energy of renewal. Bring simple, natural beauty into your life. Put flowers on your table or walk outside and experience nature. Decorate your home with something silly and fun.
Enjoy the little things. Like rabbits, good things sometimes come in common, ordinary packages.

Pile 3: Mushroom
The Bear
You have a pretty traditional spirit animal which is The Bear. It’s a symbolically powerful animal, but one thing to keep in mind is that bears hibernate. If you ever feel like you’re not always in full control or that you can’t achieve at all times, that’s why. Power takes time to build up, and when it’s used, you need to recharge.
But what happens during this holding period? Spiritual growth. You will benefit greatly from introspection even if you’re an extrovert. That doesn’t mean you have to spend hours each day by yourself or keep detailed daily journals.
What I’m talking about here is targeted spiritual growth through targeted introspection.
It’s a common misconception in the Western world that Buddhists meditate every day. Buddhism is more than that anyway, but it’s more common among monastic orders and not every monk meditates either. And so too are there different kinds of meditation for different purposes.
You will see the biggest benefit by having a specific goal and a specific method when you introspect on spiritual growth. You can identify a problem you’re having, such as difficulty concentrating, and then frame a spiritual practice around that.
Making it a project instead of a daily routine will allow you to have a beginning, middle, and end. This project is your spiritual hibernation and you’ll come out of it better than you were before. Some of you might also benefit from a spiritual retreat even if you’re not into daily spiritual practices.
Also: I hope you don’t encounter a bear in daily life because they’re dangerous, but if you encounter a bear this is usually a sign of your spirit animal actively at work in your life.
The same holds true for any images that stand out from normal cultural experiences and are thus out of place in your daily life.
Embrace Friction As Life Lessons
Your next two cards represent what your spirit animal is helping you with right now. The first of which is Adversity with the wisdom message of “I accept that challenges are the best way to learn.”
This refers to a specific difficulty you’re having, whether it’s misfortune or an exciting challenge. It’s not something you can coast by and succeed without effort and that’s why the spiritual hibernation of the bear is so useful.
We’ve all seen it in stories: the main character isn’t able to defeat the villain until they pull back and train. You need spiritual training right now and when you come across friction it’s a sign.
I hope those reading this pile are not currently facing a misfortune, but if so, allow yourself time to heal and seek help. It may take some time to be in a better position, but you will be so eventually. I don’t think that the universe sends you misfortune, but rather the free will of others brings it to our door.
What the universe does give you is the opportunity to make the most of an unfortunate situation and improve your life through a perspective shift. Getting in touch with your spiritual side will give you the answers you need to improve your life.
As for those not going through misfortune, this is a sign from the universe that you can work on something that bothers you, like shyness, or on success, like starting a business. Don’t fear the friction you encounter, but instead, see it as a sign to learn more so you can get over that hurdle.
You Have a Future
The third card is Guilt with the wisdom message of “I release any beliefs that no longer assist in my soul’s growth.” Sometimes when people introspect they ruminate and this is where they obsess over the past.
Don’t view your introspective time as a period where you beat yourself up. Instead, like the bear, see it as an opportunity to prepare yourself for spring when there’s true abundance in your life. Introspection isn’t about living in guilt over your mistakes but dreaming of a beautiful future for yourself.
It’s okay to prepare for the worst, but assume the best is coming your way and look at your introspective time as justification for your worth in this world. Look for the reasons you’re worthy or how you can become valuable to yourself according to your own definition. The Bear is at the top of the food chain – and so are you.
