Enter the Spirit World: Tarot Pick a Card
As part of your spiritual journey, you may want to ascend to a higher plane of existence. There’s still a bit of a mystery as to what that place can be, but there are many ways that you can go there. This psychic tarot pick a card will help you find yours.
All you have to do is look at the piles of cards above. Which woodland animal stands out to you the most? That’s your pile and that’s your tarot reading!
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Today I’m using the Hanson-Roberts Tarot and the Angel and Ancestors Oracle decks (these are affiliate links that support me if you make a purchase). Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now it’s time to figure out what your door to the spirit world is.
Pile 1: Wolf
A Fair Exchange
Your first card is Trader with the wisdom message of “Exchange Energy to Create Abundance.” To enter the spirit world, you’ll need to give something in return.
I consider this my Law of Attraction card, so for most of you, simply writing down, “I’m entering the spirit world” will suffice. But put a little more detail into it so you can really visualize the energetic exchange.
By making an energetic exchange, you’ll be creating a relationship with the spirit world that is more likely to last. This is because you can attract a spiritual door to your soul.
However, for the more pagan-minded among you, striking up a deal with a benevolent spirit through an offering would be a good idea. This could be a deity, an angel, a spirit guide, or an ancestor, just to name a few.
I would be mindful when creating a relationship like this, though – you want to make sure that this is a spirit you already have a strong connection to or that the spirit has a correspondence related to what I’m going to talk about next.
Let Yourself Dream
Whether you choose the Law of Attraction or an offering, your next card, Ace of Pentacles, Reversed, indicates that you won’t be physically aware of your entrance into the spirit world when it takes place.
That’s because I sense you’ll be entering the spirit world through a dream. You need a disembodied state to get there because you need to be free from the sensory perception of your body.
Law of Attraction primes your mind by helping you visualize opening a door and entering into it in your dream. While an offering to a spirit is inviting them to share their power with you.
This kind of entrance into the spirit world is powerful but uncontrolled. It may take many tries before you succeed, and when you do, your experience in the spirit world is likely to be unexpected.
Make it a goal to keep a dream journal by your bed when you wake up to collect your experiences. People forget what they dreamed of quickly, so you’ll want to write it down! Too tired to write? Use a memo function on your voice and leave a voice note.
Learning Something New
The final card in your spread is the Knight of Swords. I’m drawn to the glimmer of the blade here, and I think you’ll experience enlightenment.
You’ll find that venturing into the spirit world through your dreams is a very informative experience. That’s because you’ll be witness to information you wouldn’t normally be able to see and you’ll be able to work through thoughts in your mind in a new way.
However, be aware that entering the spirit world through your dreams can be a bit hazy. That’s because you’re uniting your consciousness with a higher plane and you’re letting it leak into your subconscious. It’s not a direct visit, but it is very powerful.
It may be difficult to make sense of what you see at first, so be prepared to look at common cultural symbols and analyze any narratives you see. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a direct conversation – but this rarely happens. Your experience with the spirit world through your dreams is likely to be more metaphorical than literal.
However, in a lot of ways, this can actually be more useful as it can make it more timeless and useful throughout your life instead of just a singular event in many instances.

Pile 2: Deer
Gaze into the Spirit World
As I look at your first card, Oracle with the wisdom message of “Wait for Important Information,” I’m drawn to the smoke. I believe that divination is your key to success here. However, astrology, tarot, or numerology would not be a good fit (for this purpose). You need a far more mystical divinatory method.
That’s why I think that scrying is your best bet. You won’t enter the spirit world through a door, but you will peer into the window.
There are several scrying methods you can try. One of the most popular is to light a candle or stick of incense and watch the smoke rise. With practice, you’ll see shapes or perceive messages within yourself.
However, a crystal ball, staring into a bowl of water, or gazing into a black mirror may also be attractive to you.
Know that all of this requires patience, but since this is a skill that you can develop over time, it’s one you can do again and again.
Don’t Be Rational
The next card is the Seven of Swords, Reversed. You can’t think of the spirit world strategically. Although I love astrology, tarot, and numerology, these divination methods are based on data or cultural symbols. Scrying, however, is more intuitive since you don’t have symbolic hints to use as a foundation for your reading.
Although some people have success with setting an intention or asking a question before scrying, you may find that the messages you receive may not be under your control. Learn to get comfortable with this loss of control as it will help you enter into a higher state of consciousness where you’ll be more psychically perceptive.
That said, methods of scrying like this have a long history and can be very powerful. You may see messages for big events and form a very strong connection to the spirit world even outside of your scrying because of it.
This isn’t a method of rationality, but psychic ability. Learn to not judge yourself by material standards.
Gaze into the Spirit World
The third card in your spread is the Two of Swords. This is a card where you’re asked to rely on your intuition. At first, you may struggle to interpret the messages you see while scrying. You also want to make sure that you can differentiate messages.
I sense that you’re likely to receive many messages in some readings that have nothing to do with each other. This will require spiritual discernment to get used to, but I think you can do it.
You’ll be increasingly surprised by your skills too. With time, you’ll find that your accuracy will increase and you’ll be better able to set an intention and control the direction of your scrying sessions.
To speed this up, make sure to spend time in mystical settings. This can include nature, but setting the mood with candles and other spiritual tokens nearby can help.
Ask yourself what you’re most attracted to in the material world which inspires awe or wonder. If it’s plants, you should have plants nearby during your scrying sessions. And if it’s being near a beach, consider taking a trip to the ocean.

Pile 3: Fox
Protect Yourself
Your first card is Arrow with the wisdom message of “Surround Yourself with Protective Energy.” Upon seeing this card, I thought of a United States tradition based on Native American origins. Parents of children who have nightmares sometimes hang a dreamcatcher above their bed. This is supposed to help catch the bad dreams so they can sleep peacefully.
I sense that you’re already entering the spirit world or you’re in a space where the spirit world is trying to make contact. This connection isn’t always positive. You may have bad dreams, feel like your intuition is broken, or that there is disturbing energy around you.
What you need to do is surround yourself with protective talismans like dreamcatchers to keep your space positive. Cleansing this negative energy will go a long way to forging a much better and more productive entrance into the spirit world that you can control.
Consider using sage or lighting candles. You can also say affirmations and prayers. There are many traditions you can try, and if you have a particular religious or cultural background, that will be especially powerful in your case.
Filling Your Cup
The next card is the Ace of Cups. Doing these protective practices will not only guard you and your home, but spiritually fill your cup. People don’t realize it, but your surroundings can deeply affect your connection to the spirit world.
That’s because if you’re surrounded solely by materialistic objects (or spooky, evil objects), it will either change your mindset or invite bad spirits into your space.
This is why places of worship like a church, temple, or shrine are sacred places. It creates a liminal space between the material and spiritual world where you can more easily ascend to a higher place.
However, not all such places are created by humans. But many cultures considered nature, such as a body of water, forest, or mountain, as being sacred too.
Understanding this sacred quality will go a long way in helping you make a place that is yours, such as your home or bedroom, a sacred place too. And that’s where you’ll fill your spiritual cup.
You Already Opened the Door
The last card here is the Nine of Pentacles, Reversed. This is about prioritizing what matters: connection. Throughout your spread is a strong element of existing in context. This context is to the spirit world itself, but also to your other relationships.
Don’t discount that the people, animals, and places around you have spiritual energy of their own. While the spirit world is a place, there are portals to that destination in the soul of every living being on the planet.
The more you recognize the divine in others, the more you’ll understand how to be intimately connected to the spirit world no matter where you are.
This is one of the reasons why traditional religions anthropomorphized natural forces, such as the sky or love, as gods. It’s also why we naturally see the importance of mythical heroes or spiritual savior figures.
We want to have a relationship with the spirit world and part of that is recognizing we’re already connected to something divine in our lives. Ask yourself who, what, and where you’re connected and you’ll start to feel that your entrance to the spirit world has been with you ever since you were born.
