Your Hidden Enemy: Tarot Pick a Card
Do you feel that there’s an unknown obstacle in your life? If so, you’ve been intuitively drawn to this reading to find out why.
Make sure that you’re in a comfortable place as you read this tarot reading. Although this message from the universe is designed to help you grow, it can be difficult to hear unsettling news. However, if you’re ready, all you need to do is select one of the piles above that sticks out to you the most.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Here I’m using the Rider-Waite tarot and the Moonology oracle decks. Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now let’s see who’s your hidden enemy and what you can do to stop them.
Pile 1: Witch
A Powerful Person
Right away I see the major arcana card of The Chariot. I sense that your hidden enemy is a person, perhaps someone you know but perhaps a person in a high position of authority, like a politician. Their actions have adverse consequences not only on you, but the people around you. No doubt they have chosen people to favor, but you’re not one of these people.
Unfortunately, this person’s powerful position gives them favorable leverage in most situations. Do you see how the charioteer is standing comfortably in his chariot with a crown over his head? It’s not going to be easy to stop him.
That said, this person’s focus isn’t on any one individual. Instead, they’re concerned with more abstract ideas. That means they’ll redirect their focus if something is particularly attractive or worrying to them.
How does that help you? Well, if this is a person you know in real life, then you can manipulate the situation in your favor by changing the topic of conversation directly or through rumors. But if this person is someone you don’t know, it may be out of your power to do anything directly.
Start Over or Protect Yourself
On the bright side, you have the Ten of Swords, Reversed. This indicates that this person will not have power over you for long. The swords they have drawn and pierced you with are now falling out, allowing you to recover.
But it will be a long road, and likely a rebirth too. I’ve always interpreted this card as being set on the River Styx. Instead of crossing that river and staying in the afterlife, you’re returning with a new perspective on life. Unlike the Death card, this association isn’t as positive, so it’s more complex, but the effect is also less powerful.
That means a lot of the power this person has over you is limited and fleeting. And most of it, because of this card, occurs in a backstabbing manner.
If you focus on being aware of your environment, even if the powerful person is someone like a politician, then you can anticipate their harmful decisions and act defensively.
Act Strategically
I do think this person may have a lasting emotional effect on you because of the New Moon in Scorpio card. Here, you feel like you must strike back to protect yourself. At times this may be effective, such as rallying with coworkers to confront a superior, but not so effective if you go online and complain about a politician among a small group of people.
Here, the wisdom message is “Work through your fears.” I sense that your primary focus after setting yourself up to be aware of your environment is to develop an internal locus of control. Some things are outside of your power, like your workplace’s major decisions or the economy.
However, what is in your power should be your focus. Consider working on your skills to increase your profile at work or save for a rainy day. The charioteer can only hurt you if you’re unprepared for his advance.

Pile 2: Devil
Life Is an Absurd Comedy
I see the Page of Cups, Reversed and get the strong sense that your hidden enemy is yourself. In particular, creative block or an unexpected idea that has confronted your current plans and now you’re in a tailspin about what to do.
This card has strong emotional tones and can wreak havoc on a person’s relationships. It’s likely you feel emotionally unsettled and are struggling to connect with others. Perhaps you’re even being unreasonable or lacking the ability to engage with situations or people.
A few of you will resonate with this, but the obstacle which has confronted you is another person, perhaps someone young like a child or youthful peer. If this person is someone you care about, then this negative energy is hurting your relationship and it can be emotionally distressing.
The result for both groups in this pile are the same: the best parts of yourself are no longer flowing freely. Your life can appear erratic and even a bit absurd. You’re not sure what to do next.
You Need a Confrontation
The next card in your spread, the Three of Wands, Reversed indicates that your focus is now narrowing. I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing, but there’s a complex attitude you must embody to get the best out of this card and your current situation.
First, it’s healthy to have a curious mind and an opportunistic perspective about your environment. This is what helps you encounter the unexpected and react positively. However, when you do encounter a threat, having too wide a perspective can cause you to miss what’s most important right now.
So what you need to do in the immediate sense is critically evaluate your creative block, unexpected idea, or tense relationship with another person. This is what’s twisting your mind around a single thorn. Ignoring it will not make it go away and it will just fester like a wound.
Give your creative block the attention it needs with writing prompts. If you have a new idea that’s challenging your life perspective, investigate that with journaling or meditation. And if you have a tense relationship? It might be time to have a heart-to-heart.
Be Prepared for Minor Changes
The last card in your spread is the First Quarter Moon with the wisdom message of “You’re commitment is being tested.” On one hand, the lack of major arcana cards in your spread suggests the effect of your hidden enemy is limited. However, I do see this obstacle as part of a larger chapter of your life that needs to be addressed.
This lunar phase is the time when someone looks at their project with a critical eye and makes tweaks and adjustments to better align with their vision. I believe your vision or what you’ve come to value in life as important is being tested. Avoid that wide perspective right now until that confrontation because you’re working through something and towards the full light of the moon.
If you’re not sure what to do, get back to basics. What is it you really want or need in life? Make sure what you’re doing is aligned with those priorities or at least not antagonistic to them. If you’re at a loss, it may be time for some experimentation creatively, in your lifestyle, or how you approach relationships.

Pile 3: Reaper
Society Is Looking in Your Direction
With the major arcana card of Justice, you may be facing some sort of legal or social repercussion. As this isn’t reversed, I do think the issue will largely go in your favor, but Justice is not designed to take favorites. And unlike most images associated with justice, the woman here is not blindfolded. She sees everything.
Did you know the average person unknowingly commits three felonies a day in the United States? Check in with your heart and make sure that you aren’t acting in a way that would be considered immoral to other people – especially if you’re going through something like a legal dispute, a breakup, or posting political or social commentary online. Even if you’re not doing something wrong in that area, your opponent will look elsewhere in your life for ammo.
Let’s not forget people who slack at work! There’s a saying that if you’re leaning, you’re not cleaning. While unfair, it does represent the power of this force in your life. Someone or something is going to act with the sharp edge of the sword. There will be no favorites. So make sure you aren’t doing something which could be called out for a while.
Act with integrity, which I think you’re more than capable of considering this card is upright, and you won’t find yourself on the wrong end of the law or public outrage.
It’s Going to Be Tough for Awhile
I’m drawn more to the third card right now to correctly describe the context of the first. Here you have the New Moon in Virgo card with the wisdom message of “A time to give rather than take.” Virgo is an interesting sign in the zodiac because it represents those who serve. Historically, it also represented slaves. Not my favorite association (especially as a Virgo myself), but I do think it indicates the preoccupation for a lot of Virgo traits.
This is a sign of work and working well. Virgos can be a bit of a perfectionist. Some of this is derived from the joy of doing a good job. Some of this is from fear of a higher (earthly) power.
But another association is that of earth goddesses. You can be very fruitful even if that fruit is not something you can personally enjoy right now. You need to “give” your time and effort right now because it’s the right thing to do. That doesn’t mean it’s the easy thing to do. But like all Virgos know… someone has to do it.
You’re the only person who can act in such a way as to avoid the sword of fate for yourself. If you don’t act with personal integrity, no one is going to be there to help you. For example: if work is the issue, a spouse is unlikely to save the day. It’s all on you.
Your Life In Bloom
Quite happily, your last card is very peaceful. Here we have the Six of Cups. Although you could interpret the giver or receiver as you, the message of the card is more complex than that. You’re not giving now so you’ll receive something later. What you’re creating is a much better environment for everyone, including yourself, going forward.
I see the flowers on this card as representing the fruits of your labor. If the Justice at work in your life is someone like a boss, they aren’t going to punish you and will begin treating everyone better around you. If it’s an actual legal or cultural backlash, then not only will the wave bypass you, but it will bypass those around you.
What you have is the power to create a beautiful and safe garden in your immediate environment. That will be a place you want to live in. So even though you don’t want to do the difficult things which seem unfair right now, it will put up walls and bloom a beautiful situation going forward. And yes, you’re going to share that, you won’t get all of the good, but you’ll enjoy having someone to share it with.
