Your Life Story: Tarot Pick a Card
Knowing where you’re coming from can help you find out where you’re going. Framing that in the context of a life story helps you to see the main theme of your life. Then, you can determine if that is a story you want to continue or if you should start revising, and thus changing, your life.
I can help you with that using this tarot pick a card. All you have to do is select one of the piles above that sticks out to you the most. That’s your message from the universe.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Here I’m using the Golden Art Nouveau Tarot and the Angels and Ancestors oracle decks (these are affiliate links that help support me if you make a purchase). Remember you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now it’s time to open the book of your life story.
Pile 1: Pink Shirt
Stuck in a Rut
Your theme card is the Ace of Swords, Reversed. Aces represent the person the reading is about and swords can symbolize the mind or decisions. In this case, I sense that your ability to make decisions has been compromised and it feels like you aren’t the author of your life story.
My intuitive sense when I pulled this card is that other people or circumstances are making decisions for you. This is likely a frustrating and oppressive feeling. Perhaps you even agree with these decisions at times, but the inability to choose yourself makes you feel powerless. So when you do disagree, you feel as if your future is not under your control.
This creates limiting beliefs in yourself and is likely stunting your thoughts and creativity. A mind needs freedom, and a free mind is also a free body. If your mind can’t even control its body, you’ll feel like you’re suffering mental atrophy.
It doesn’t even matter if your life is objectively good right now or not. You don’t feel free.
You Need Allies
The next card, Arrow, has the wisdom message of “Surround Yourself with Protective Energy.” This and the last card were unexpected pulls for me, but I think your particular situation is unique.
Instead of rebelling or taking direct control of your life, you need to surround yourself with better people. The truth is that nobody wants to admit is that we don’t exist in isolation. We’re influenced by the people around us and our surroundings. In essence, we react just as much as we initiate acts ourselves.
In areas you do have control, focus on putting yourself in favorable situations among favorable people. Spiritually, you also want to work with protective energies or seek a protective presence in your life. A higher power, angels, spirit guides – whatever you believe, seek it and embrace it for spiritual comfort.
Know What You’re Good At and What You Need Help With
Your last card, Air Guardian, has the wisdom message of “Shift Your Perspective.” I’m not saying you should never make decisions for yourself, but to look at life from a cooperative and social paradigm.
You live in a society, and learning how to exist within that society will help you form more positive bonds. It’s a bit like a good marriage: no couple makes 100% independent decisions. Sometimes, they come to a mutual agreement or surrender authority in an area to their partner.
Think of it like specialization. Perhaps you want to change your career, but making that decision in a vacuum wouldn’t liberate you – it would just alienate you. Seek guidance from family, friends, a mentor, or perhaps even a vocational counselor. They can help broaden your perspective and provide cooperative wisdom to find the best solution.
You may or may not agree with them in the end. However, you’ll feel like you have all the information to make the right decision for yourself.
Use your mind for decisions you’re best able to make, but not all decisions. Sometimes, you need help. Save your authority for your expertise. You’ll be much happier with the results.

Pile 2: Blue Shirt
You’re Feeling Blocked
Pile two, your theme card is the Page of Swords, Reversed. You have a desire to express yourself and live your truth, but the manifestation of that truth hasn’t always gone well.
Notice how the man in this card is ready for whatever the world throws his way – at least, he thinks he’s ready. The truth is that he has no armor and he’s taking a risk.
I sense that is at the heart of your life story. You make attempts at things and it doesn’t always work out. Over time, this is becoming discouraging and you’re no doubt being wounded. The world is looking more dangerous and hopeless. See how there’s a storm in the background? It always seems like another threat is looming.
Now you’re feeling more cautious and even fearful to try new things. You want to, but you’re starting to second guess yourself.
Find Your Rhythm
Just like the last pile, your next two cards were unexpected. Here we have the Moon card with the wisdom message of “Take Note of Intuitive Messages.” That means even though you’re life has all these looming threats… you shouldn’t change your strategy completely.
Yes, you’re going in unprepared and facing obstacles you’re not fully able to overcome. But that energy and resolve is a virtue and it’s something you need to embrace and hold to.
Instead, what needs to change is how you face the rhythms of life. This card here suggests you need to trust your intuition… but do you see how it shows the procession of lunar phases?
I think it can help you to break down your near future into mini-projects. Some people follow lunar rituals or at least lunar journaling to match their life to the energy of the moon. Sometimes you need to plan, sometimes you need to make adjustments, and sometimes you need to celebrate.
The point is that you need to stop looking at your life as one big project, but as chapters that you’re writing along the way. Take the time during each lunar phase to stop and ask yourself how your projects are going, what they need, and any other check-ins to manifest your personal abundance.
Also, you don’t have to follow the moon. If you want to break it down month-by-month, that’s also valid.
What You Want Is Yours
The last card in your spread is Magick Guardian with the wisdom message of “Unlock the Magick Within.” This is partly why I suggested following a lunar calendar because there’s a strong magickal energy within you.
Another way to describe this is your power of intention. You can conceive an idea and manifest that intention in the world. Not everyone has this naturally, and while it can be improved, you’re starting from a better position than most.
That means you can rely on this personal gift. Perhaps use actual magick, but the Law of Attraction or personal development are other methods to pursue your abilities in life.
Dream and manifest those dreams through sheer force of will. You can do it. You just have to want it and be clear about what you want.

Pile 3: Green Shirt
You’re On a Narrow Path
The theme card of your pile is Justice. I’m going to be honest: this can be interpreted in two different ways. Either you’ve provided justice in the world or you’ve been morally judged.
Generally, it has come out in your favor (otherwise this card would be reversed), but that doesn’t mean life has been easy.
You likely feel you have a very narrow road forward with limited options. If you make the wrong decision, you’ll suffer serious consequences. However, if you make the right decision, you’re likely to be justly rewarded.
The problem? The road isn’t easy and not everyone follows the rules. It’s frustrating to follow the rules when other people get away with things. Justice isn’t blind, nor unfair, but some people seem invisible to her powers. Not you. And that’s maddening. It seems like you just can’t relax and take it easy. Everything takes so much effort!
But The Path Is a Good One
The second card in your spread is Protection Guardian with the wisdom message of “Drop Your Shields.” Here’s the good news: even though the road behind you has been difficult, your hard work so far has manifested a far more comfortable situation than you realize.
Yes, life can be harsh, but you’ve done a lot to be in a good and secure place. Rely on family, friends, or even your life situation for a while. Chances are, you have people in your life who care for you and aren’t going to be as harsh as life itself: they have empathy and they’re willing to let you just relax a bit. They’ll help you pick up the slack.
You probably also need to take a long weekend or vacation. Have something in your life where there are no expectations or goals too. Let yourself experience unplanned and unrestricted joy.
Spiritually, your generally upright character has made your spirit guides confident that your life isn’t set for a chaotic future. They know you’re going to listen to your intuition and make generally good decisions. That means you don’t have to obsess about the details.
Your Life Is an Adventure
Your final card is Knight with the wisdom message of “Be Brave and Honest.” I see that wisdom message as a repetition of your general spread, so let’s dwell on the meaning of being a knight itself.
You have a personal code that works to maintain your life effectively. Sometimes you’ll face dragons, but your life story isn’t a tragedy: it’s a romance. And in a romance, life is an adventure that inspires your heart to dream.
Don’t focus on the rules. Focus on your highest aim instead. It’s going to work out for you in the end because you’ve done all the “training” to live out your best life already.
