The Self-Love You Need: Tarot Pick a Card
The world can break us down sometimes. Even worse, we often break down ourselves. But with this tarot pick a card, you can find out why and how you should show more love to yourself.
It’s easy: all you have to do is select one of the piles of cards above that sticks out to you the most. That’s your message straight from the universe.
After you select your cards, scroll down to your pile or choose below.
Here I’m using the Everyday Tarot and the Work Your Light oracle decks. Remember that you have free will. That means you can manifest the positive and avoid the negative of any reading.
Now it’s time to see how you can get the self-love you need.
Pile 1: Face Mask
Get Outside Yourself
The central card of your spread, Take a Break, gives a simple and to-the-point message for how you can take care of yourself more. The woman in this card has left the confines of her home and gone out to the water to enjoy nature.
I see the imagery of this card as especially poignant in these times. You’ve probably been cooped up at home a lot or come to associate your “natural environment” as a cloistered, artificial space – especially if you work from home.
You need to get outside, even if it’s just for a few minutes, to take in the fresh air and daily breeze. If you live near nature, this is certainly easier for you, but for those who live in more urban environments or struggle to get outdoors, this may be a special outing instead of a daily occurrence.
For this reason, you may find it helpful to bring nature into your home or workspace. This can mean a real plant, but an artificial one or even a beautiful piece of art could be sufficient. It’s also important that you find an activity you don’t normally do to give that sense of being “in a different place.”
Connect With Nature
Your next card repeats this nature theme with the Nine of Pentacles. Here we see a woman in a garden setting. A falcon perches on her arm. She’s one with nature. She’s also nature herself: a baby appears to be within her womb.
I sense from this card that going outside allows you to give birth to something natural within. Many people find the outdoors inspiring. But what’s inspiring about nature can be different for all people. Perhaps, like me, you find something mythological about the hills in your mountainous region. Others may enjoy the rolling waves of the ocean or the flight of birds. Don’t assume nature is just green. What inspires you about nature inspires something individual within you.
Explore that connection. It’s what bridges the gap between your inner self and your outer world.
I also see the woman in this card as a cultivator of wealth. While there’s an artificial element to this card, what I sense in your spread is that you look out at nature and cultivate an interpretation of that personal symbol in your life.
This could be a garden, but it might be a poem, or a desire to be closer to your loved ones.
Commit to Change
The last card in your spread is the Ace of Swords. This may seem like an unusual card compared to your other ones. However, I see it as you picking up the sword and making an important decision about your future.
Taking a break isn’t retirement. Rather, it’s a period where you rest and recuperate. This allows you to return to your new life refreshed and with a new perspective.
You will be fundamentally changed by taking a break and connecting with the natural world. That is how the universe wants you to recognize the self-love you need to make yourself a happier and healthier person. You’re about to evolve and get closer to your higher self.

Pile 2: Hair Curlers
Learning from the Past
The central card in your spread is rather regal. Here, the Transformation card has the wisdom message of “Things are changing at a cellular level. Deep healing.” But while that healing message is part of your reading, I’m intuitively drawn to the regal aesthetic here.
The transformation you’ll have elevates your sense of self-worth. That can take many forms, but know this: who you see yourself as now is about to change forever.
The sun’s illumination of the woman here is important. While I do think your transformation will be somewhat emotional, it will also be an intellectual and rational understanding of who you should be.
I sense from the near-helix in her hand and the association of Ancient Egypt that you may be calling upon an ancestor or past life. Because of how genetics and population growth works, everyone is related to a noble at some point in their history. Either this ancestor or perhaps your connection to a past life will be called upon for you to understand how worthy you are. It’s in your blood.
You may feel drawn to look into genealogy or family cultures (birth or adopted). That’s because your ancestor or past life is hoping you’ll find ancient wisdom which will shift your perspective.
Don’t Perform Rituals
You may be surprised by the next card. Here we have The High Priestess, Reversed. This glimpse into the past is not one of traditionally spiritual or magical connotations. For instance, if you’re from Ireland that doesn’t mean you should suddenly change your religion to paganism. Nor does it mean you should start doing Western magick.
Rather, this is a more intellectual personal exploration. Spirituality isn’t always about ritual. Sometimes you need to understand something deep within your soul. This is a more private time and one of withdrawal. It’s not even about directly connecting to your ancestors or past lives through something like tarot or channeling.
I believe this is all happening because you already have the seed of what you need within you. Spiritually what you need is already present. But now you need the intellectual backing as a foundation to continue in your spiritual journey.
And for you? That is found in past wisdom. You can’t move forward until you understand your spiritual past. And understanding comes from the mind as much as it comes from the heart.
Stepping Into Your New Unknown
The last card represents a break from your withdrawal. Here The Fool indicates that, once you feel that it has intellectually clicked for you, you take a leap and step back into your spiritual ritual. This card does suggest that you may be trying something new, perhaps a different ritual inspired by your study.
However, you may simply be returning to your current spiritual routine with a new understanding. Our spiritual journeys aren’t just defined by novelty, but by depth. You can do the same meditations over and over again and experience something new each time – especially if you’re forming new intellectual understandings about the world.
Lastly, your oracle card and this one both feature animal familiars. Cats represent rebirth because of their nine lives and dogs represent loyalty. What you’ll learn from this self-love experience is that your current life has been revitalized from your curiosity and you’ll have a greater awareness of the world, and your ancestors, in your spiritual practice.
You aren’t as alone as you think. Not only will you feel this now, but you’ll know it too.

Pile 3: Cosmetics
Making Real Connections
Your central card is Pleiades with the wisdom message of “Double mission: channeling and uplifting humanity.” For you, I sense your self-love is more communal than most. That’s possibly because you either see your connection to community as emotionally satisfying or you’re at a point where you need to engage socially.
I also see the wisdom message as particularly important. You have two goals: to better understand humanity and to help them somehow. I do sense that you need to connect with your higher self to do so.
What does this mean exactly?
First, find out what cause matters most. This could be related to something going on in the news, but it’s okay to pick something more intimate and personal. I’m particularly interested in providing air conditioning to the poor to improve quality of life after suffering a few rough summers myself. Yes: your mission could be something that specific and off the wall.
But the point here is more spiritual than that. Why you want to do something is deeply personal and helps you to make an emotional connection to humanity. Sympathy is great, but sympathy can lead to narcissistic acts of false charity where you derive status instead of truly helping another person. Don’t just hunt for social media likes.
Empathy is what helps you connect to someone on a more human level. Pick a cause that matters to you. That you truly understand personally.
Your Help Should Be Personal
The next card is very positive. Most people associate The Hierophant with negative connotations. However, I believe it can provide the healthy structure any mission needs for success.
Make a plan for your cause that’s in line with what you can do. If your resources are limited, do research and find an existing charity you trust. If you have more resources, you can start your own charity or provide direct and quick assistance to individuals in need. One plan I have for air conditioning is to buy air conditioners early in the year and give them out to someone in need with a stipend during a heatwave.
Help doesn’t have to be monetary either. You can volunteer for that organization. It doesn’t have to be physical either. For example, a writer can promote a particular organization online for free.
Consider what you have that can help the cause. This can run the gamut of forms. An artist might draw a picture. Someone who follows the news might curate a blog. It’s okay to use your hobbies and skills to customize your approach. In fact, it might be the most appropriate way you can truly uplift humanity in that cause even if you have money.
Whatever you choose, make a plan. Don’t just rely on flashes of inspiration to help. Perhaps you want to do a three-day blitz. Perhaps you’ll want to make a multi-year plan. Just make sure you have a plan before you begin. It can change and evolve over time if you want it to.
Your World Will Change
Your last card is the Page of Cups. I sense two meanings here and I believe both apply to your situation. The first is that you’ll be surprised by how this experience transforms you. The reason you’re being called to this particular path for self-love is that it will reveal something about your life you would’ve never understood otherwise.
The second is that you’re likely to encounter a peer who will work alongside you on the cause. You may find it beneficial to reach out to friends or acquaintances who would be interested in helping, either online or in person. But this peer may come into your life unexpectedly.
This relationship will be very meaningful to you. I don’t know if you’ll be best friends, or even if your relationship will last longer than your mission, but it will be a connection you’ll look favorably on for the rest of your life.
Always remember that charity or promoting a cause is a social act. You’re part of a greater universal community even if you don’t interact with these people all the time. This experience will give you faith in what humanity is truly capable of. And what humanity is capable of can be quite wonderful.
