Will Smith’s Future In Hollywood: Tarot Reading
Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in the face after he made a funny (but cruel) joke about his wife’s baldness at the Oscars. The outrage following this incident was pronounced in pop culture.
While I agree that Will’s actions were out of line, I can’t help but think this outrage is more pomp and self-aggrandizing than anything else. It made me wonder if there was more going on behind the scenes and if it would affect Will’s career in the future.
So I decided to find out with a tarot reading. Remember this tarot reading is alleged and for entertainment purposes only.
Here I’ll be using the Golden Art Nouveau Tarot and the Angels and Ancestors oracle decks (these are affiliate links that help support me if you make a purchase).
Now it’s time to find out if Will has a future in Hollywood.
The Cards

His Worst Social Trait Manifests
The first card in the spread is the Nine of Wands, Reversed. I have come to interpret this card to represent overcoming wounds from an experience, but doing so alone. Upright, you can interpret the wands in the background as allies who have your back. As a reversed card, I see that Will is going to lose his social network.
I do think Will’s career is going to survive this event, but he may have people in the industry and friends who no longer associate with him anymore. The event may even strain his relationship with his wife and children.
This will be a rough future for Will as it’s going to encourage his worst instincts. In past interviews, he has expressed that he measures his worth as a human being based on his fame. This is a phenomenally bad approach to living because that means he surrounded himself with people who will drop him over this incident. The relationships he has built aren’t sincere.
On the Road to a Different Future
The next tarot card in his spread is The Chariot. I do think he’s going to learn something from this fallout and it’s going to let him push forward with future projects. Because his name is tarnished, he may choose less prestigious roles and likely be surrounded by filmmakers who care about the craft more than a film’s mainstream success.
I see the charioteer here going in a new direction to a new land – that’s Will – and it will be a revolution for his career. But it’s going to be very different in form compared to what he’s done previously and will be a massive risk. Likely, he’ll never have the same fame or fortune again.
But perhaps that’s exactly what he needs. His real glory as an actor may come from existing outside the main elite circles where image is everything. He can’t live that way anymore. His pride simply can’t handle it. And neither can real happiness.
He’s About to Fall on the Sword
Will’s third tarot card is the Queen of Swords. I can interpret this card in two ways. The first is as his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Because of Will’s view on relationships, this casts a very negative light on the kind of person Jada may be – someone who only values Will for his reputation.
That means Jada may not be as emotionally invested in the relationship and may break the marriage.
Alternatively, we can also see this card as representing Will internalizing cold hard logic to make the best decisions for his future. He’s been living a delusion about what fame should be and he needs to have a more practical vision for his career and relationships.
Either way, Will is destined to face the sharp edge of the sword here as important decisions need to be made about his future in a manner he hasn’t done so before.
Finding a True Role Model
The first oracle card in Will’s spread is Medicine Mother with the wisdom message of “Honour your inner knowing.” I interpret this to mean that Will has always known what he should be doing and has lived a lie this entire time.
He probably has conflicting personal views which have been battling for control because he’s so focused on the external world. Will needs to rely upon more ancient wisdom rather than modern cultural wisdom from Hollywood. Getting in touch with his spirituality, especially more ancient practices, will soothe his soul.
I also think he would benefit from finding an older mentor, possibly a mother figure, who can emotionally guide him over the next few years. Seeking out a female agent or manager, especially on the indie side, is likely his best option.
If he’s happy with his current agent or manager, reaching out to an older actress or industry professional would be another good choice.
Taking Responsibility
The final oracle card in this spread is Wise One with the wisdom message of “Grow within your current situation.” Simply put, it’s Will’s responsibility to take ownership of his actions and move forward. While I think Hollywood is being ridiculous, the only person who can save Will is himself by making the right moral actions (though an older female mentor is also advised).
He needs to look at his current situation and learn from it. His current relationships or how he approaches relationships may drive him to madness. This event is his wake-up call to become a better and happier version of himself. That is a person his children would also be proud of.
However, he’s never going to escape what he’s done. People are likely to bring it up for the rest of his life and some doors may always remain closed. He needs to accept that and move on to the best future he can have now.
